Gachinski aims to become Russia's next top skater

Getting back to the article & Gachinski, I think he's the one that reminded me of Evgeni when I first saw him skate (will have to look in the archives). Hmmm, if it is him, I recall saying that's the closest I've ever seen to cloning!

I realize Evgeni is revered in his home country, and is someone to look up to of course, but the kid has to get his own style, otherwise it looks like a poor version of Russia's own.

That said, I think it would be great to see the rivalry develop between him & Zhenya when he does come back, pushing each other, WOW, the possibilites are endless. The veteran pushing the young one(s) and reverse as well.

Looks like Gachinski earned himself a spot at the Worlds. But based on his performance at Euros, his placement will probably be between 10-15.
