Domnia & Shabalin had a shampoo commercial that aired over and over and over last season on the NTV channel.

Karen Magnussen did an ad for margarine. However, Karen was not a particularly convincing spokesperson for the product. She spread the margarine on bread, took a bite, and then said something about how good it was, but had a really "O this tastes terrible" face while saying it. We always got a chuckle out of it.

It's always a mixed bag, having sports heroes plugging your product. The great goalie Rogatien Vachon of the Montreal Canadiens once did an ad for a discount men's clothier, Dorion Suit. Rogie had a thick French accent and dropped most of his "h's". He was supposed to read the line:

There are no hassles at Dorion Suit in Lachute and Lachine.

What he said sounded like there are no hh-assholes at Dorion Suit in Lachute and Lachine. It was memorable, and since people really remembered, it was on the air for several years.

I can try!

Axel Paulsen, promoting *GROAN* cigarettes

 Wow, cool. This is probably from 1887-1889. W.S. Kimball (they made "Old Gold" cigarettes) came out with the first "baseball cards" in the 1880s. They also had series with athletes in other sports, entertainers, and "bathing beauties." Axel Paulsen was the world champion in both speed skating and figure skating, although this was before the ISU was founded so it is not clear how "official" the titles were.

OT, but here is lady shooting champion Lillian Smith and "juvenile" roller skating champion Thomas Humphrey (sold on ebay for $117).

 All I can say is, watch out for flying pucks.

Savchekno & Szolkowy, Brian Joubert, Carolina Kostner were shown towards the end of this 3-minute "Welcome to Gothenburg" ad, plus Kristoffer Berntsson and Team Surprise (well, it's either that or a throng of Koffeholic fangirls :p) shout out something in Swedish. I could only make out the word "Göteborg":

Koffe was also featured in this (somewhat corny) 2008 Worlds commercial: http://www.nicozon.net/watch/sm2728130

I always liked Kristi's contact lens commercial, which was actually quite a lot of work for her: she had extensive dialogue, and she had to act a bit, all of which she did charmingly. ("Ever since I won the gold, people want me to change.") The "swimsuit calendar" moment was hysterical--her all covered up with a towel and a bathing cap, looking frazzled. The humorous, low-key tone suited her personality, and the commercial advertised the product really well.
