#4 Nicole SCHOTT GER staking on Tango de Roxanne. That's a risky music to skate in Korea, what with Yuna's Senior debut SD music. But she did a respectable job.

I didn't see any of Oba's jumps, but I was impressed with her basic skating and musicality. Enjoyable skater to watch. Okay, here's the replay: 3S+3T gorgeous! but now it's buffering. I wouldn't be surprised if it led. Her footwork was strong.

I liked Miabi Oba the most so far. Jumps are tiny, but 3-3 looked rotated. And her presentation is nice. She is in first

Najarro:
3F(maybe 3T - my feed jumped in the entrance to the jump)+2T, 3Lo UR fall, 2A. A bit slow in the spins and the footwork wasn't very complex. But she is smooth and overall an enjoyable skater.

ETA: Pretty sure 3Lo will be <<

Canada is at risk of not having a girl in the FS, with Najarro in 4th with 24 skaters still to go.

The second group is warming up now. Risa SHOJI of Japan will the 5th. I like her.

Wow! Can you tell me why there's only one Canadian lady's skater?
They qualified 2 skaters, with 1 direct entry (Najarro), as Charbonneau was 6th last year. However, Vanessa Grenier who was the second entry did not make it out of the preliminary round.

Miyabi Oba is the first skater officially qualified to the FS! :) Good for her, she has been my favorite so far.

My feed has been terrible in this group so far :(

It's amazing how deep the Japanese talents are. The way I understand it, Oba is not the #1 jr. lady in Japan.

Oba was 3rd in the Japanes Junior Nats and 8th in Senior Nats. She beat Japan's #1 Junior Risa Shoji in the preliminary round.

I agree that the risk is there, but I don't think that Canada's as screwed as it seems.

In Senior Worlds, yes, being 4th after the 1st group, you'll probably be buried by the higher-ranked skaters coming up in the remaining groups.

In Junior Worlds, however, because there are many very talented skaters for whom this is their first season, many of the top skaters don't yet have the results to have high world rankings and thus end up in the earlier groups, and vice versa (i.e. skaters expected to do less well do end up in later groups). For example, Risa Shoji is in group 2, and some girls that didn't do so well this season are in the final few groups.

As such, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to predict that enough girls will place below Alexandra to allow her to make the FS.

Yes, there's Risa Shoji, Miyabi, Yuki Nishino, Kako Tomotaki, Yukiko Fujisawa, and many, many more.

I think it's quite likely that Najarro will qualify to the FS. However, I don't think she'll make it to the top 2 groups or earn a top 8 spot in order to get two spots for Canada. She's lacking the big jumps and while her spins and basics are solid, they're not really special. She has not been very consistent this season. Hicks, Zawadzki, Gao, Ohba, Shoji, Nishino, Tuktamysheva, Sotnikova, Shelepen, Vannut, Li and Silete are just a handful of the skaters who can outscore her easily.
