Courtney really moved up in the free skate. And I'm sure she'll be back in juniors internationally next year. Good for Agnes actually doing a good LP!

I was curious about this stat, so did a little checking. Looking only at ISU events, Caroline Zhang in 2006-2007, Yu-Na Kim in 2005-2006, and Mao Asada in 2004-2005 also won every single SP and LP in their undefeated seasons.

Wow! I didn't know that, thanks! I sure hope Adelina will follow Mao/Yuna's steps from now on :)

I hope Adelina AND Liza will follow the way Mao/ Yu-Na did.
:thumbsup::biggrin::thumbsup:

Of course! I always found Adelina to be more like Mao and Liza like Yuna(of course they aren't, each has her own style, plus, nobody knows if Adelina or Liza will really get at the top someday). But it's fun to compare them. For now, Adelina dominated like Mao did in her first season. I bet Adelina will go to senior GP and return to jr worlds next season. How funny will it be if next season, on the JGP, Liza will dominate? And defeat Adelina in the jr worlds?

Just going through the top 7 skaters, this was a very tough panel  None of the top 7 fell, and yet:

Adelina got negative GOE on the 3F and her layback only got Level 2
Liza had a UR on a 2S 2t 2lo (I assume this was supposed to be a 3s2t2lo?
Agnes had an edge call on her 3F and < type UR on 3Lo and 3S
Courtney had << under rotation on the 3T in her 3lz3t combo, an edge call on both her lutzes, and a < ur on her 3F
Risa had edge calls on both lutzes, < UR on her 3Lo, and <ur on the final jump of her 3/2/2 combo.
Christina had an edge call on her lutz, and UR on her 2a
Myabi had << underrotation and a edge call on her lutz

Final standings:

Adelina stepped out on the 3F and couldn't hold on to the Biellman, hence the level 2.

The calling was tough but, IMO, it was accurate. Agnes does lip, Courtney's jumps were short on rotation, Risa does have problems with her flutz and her under-rotations, Christina does flutz and her 2A is weak, etc. You didn't need to be a caller to see a lot of the things.

It's good to know that under this tough panel, Adelina didn't receive and "e" on her Lutz :D I always thought her Lutz was borderline in terms of edge, maybe she worked on that

Liza got higher marks than Adelina in Transitions, Choreography and Interpretation! Finally the judges reword her for her Asturias program! Still, in second place. But Liza and Adelina are virtually tied in PCS!

I believe that if Liza would have skated the way she did in Jr nationals(in the LP), she would be the winner. Still, she kept it together! Happy for both of them

Good for them! It's about time. I always thought Liza was the more interpretive one and had better programs. Congrats to both girls.

It appears Sotnikova is in place with Kim and Asada for 2013 Worlds. These skaters lock in their podium places.

Sotnikova does need to work on her spins a bit, though. Her layback positions are sloppy and cause her to lose speed and control - hence the level 2. However, if her spins, and all of the Russian ladies spins, improve, I can see this happening.

As a measure of how good the performances of Adelina and Elizaveta were, if one were to combine all of the World Junior Championships since 2005 and come up with medal podium, it would come out as follows:-

1. Mao Asada (2005) - 179.24
2. Kim Yu-Na (2006) - 177.54
3. Adelina Sotnikova (2011) - 174.96

Well done to Adelina and Elizaveta - they are the future of figure skating.

Time to change the Age Eligibility Rules. I think they should be changed turn 14 on the 1st July the previous year instead of 15. That way Adelina and Elizaveta could compete in seniors next year instead of 2013 which I think is ridiculous. Moreover, Mao Asada would have been able to have competed in the 2006 Olympics - when arguably she would have won the title having already beaten all of those who did eventually make the podium that season. The quality of seniors this year has not been that great and it needs an injection of new life to revive interest. Thats what Adelina and Elizaveta would provide.

Not to take anything from Yuna/Mao, but I don't think it's accurate to compare the scores from today with the ones in 2005/2006. Mao is my favorite skater, but she wasn't penalized for her 3Flutz in 2005(unfortunately. Who knows what might have been if she would have worked on her flutz by the time she was 14-15 old...)

Adelina and Elizaveta are amazing. I like Liza a touch better; she's an expressive firecracker on the ice. Congrats to both. :)

That crowd was amazing. What a wonderful place to skate. No wonder Agnes looked thrilled.

Wouldn't it be nice if she could go to Rohene (Jason's choreographer) for her programs next year? I'd like to see her in something really different. He could help her bring out other aspects of her skating.

@ Mirunna - thats exactly right. I think Mao would have given Kim more of run for her money over the last couple of years had she had a properly executed Lutz in her armoury. Leaving it out completely and having to perform 3 triple axels in each competition (one in the short and two in the long - inevitably failing on one or two of them) has caused her terrible problems.
