Plushenko wants to become a legend of figure skating

Plush has said he had meetings with Speedy and his return has been "arranged."
Wondering if Speedy has asked for Plush to skate the GP this season as part of the "arrangement."

However fans feel about Plush he is a star attraction and his appearance at GP's whether it be SC, SA, NHK, COC or TEB would be newsworthy and sure to spur fan interest.

Since this is figure skating it is not too hard to believe the judges would be generous scoring him and no reason for his PCS to be anything less than stellar. The big marks for TR will still be there.

I was wondering the same thing , but probably he wil skate only in COR , or maybe Japan if they invite him....I hope Chan and Kozuka will be there too.

To throw someone a bone means to give them a small reward as an encouragement, even though they didn't really do much to deserve it.

I may be living in the past, but I think the ISU might want to do some little thing in to try to slow the slide of figure skating in the United States into oblivion. Mr. Cinquanta might even be nostalgic about the days when the United States sent him a $5 million check every year. Next year would be a good time to do it, since it wouldn't interfere with whatever the ISU's plans are for Sochi.

So what plans does ISU have with Sochi? If it is that so had they also had plans for Vancouver? If i go by your way, wasnt the bone for Us men big enough?maybe none left for ladies sorry but you askedfor it!

Ciquanta said what ze said durin Vancouver about evgeni but now the Olympics are held to another continent, he is kissing RF and Putins ..hand. Nevertheless a skater has the right to ask for reinstatement one time in this case , no matter what Ciquanta says, dont worry when Sochi is over, tey ll ban him again.

I'd guess he'll root for Russia - Plushenko, but he knows that Chan's going to win. I think Yagudin and Plushenko are very friendly now.

I'm very excited to see Chan and Plushenko compete. After all, there are only a short list of Chan's challengers. I think Plushenko is well in the mix.

well if you have read what Alexei said about Vancouver and Plusy you woudnt have this question. Personaly I think media only want food for rivarly that has ended ages ago.Well in Artistry on Ice 2010-China they were together playing ping pong and Yagudin said word by word that only hope for Russian Men in Sochi for a medal is if Evgeni will be back.

But whatever Alexei thinks, in my mind it is clear Plushy wont beat Chan.

I think that all of the skaters you mentioned, Kim, Asada, Ando, Rochette, Lepisto, are pretty much done. I don't think Leonova will be a force, and the younger Russians are too young. I am not sure how much improvement to expect from Murakami and Nagasu.

I have understood that Lepisto is healthy now and will continue her career next season.

Nagasu and Murakami are my big favourites (and Lepisto too), hopefully we will see them both at Worlds 2012! About Murakami I have the impression that she always looks overly eager to come on the ice to start her programme. Maybe that affects her concentration and makes her do misstakes (too much enthusiasm)?

They tried, but it didn't help increase the popularity of figure skating in the U.S., for two reasons. First, Lysacek has such a bland personality that no one in the U.S. knows he exists, despite him being the Olympic gold medalist and (more importantly) the runner-up on Dancing with the Stars.

Alissa, on the other hand, is in tight with Eminem, and is the star of an award-winning Super Bowl ad. (Well, maybe "star" isn't quite the right word for her 0.75-second half-way Bielman spin.)

I agree, though, that Mirai is capable of stealing Alissa's thunder.

I think it's amazing that Trenary's performance from 1990 Worlds has been brought in as a comparison to performances from 2011. LOL!

Kostner was definitely superior to Trenary, though. The former's 3Flip was better, her 3Loop was harder than doing another 3Toe, and she had an additional 2Axel. Kostner's footwork and spins were technically better too, although I must say that really miss people doing split jumps as part of footwork sequences. The sequence of moves that Trenary did following the last Triple Salchow sure did have character!

BOP's breakdown of how the ladies event SHOULD have been scored was actually right on (and I usually dont agree with him on anything). 4th overall would have been the correct place for Miki under accurate scoring.

I'm not sure if I should hug you for agreeing with me or recoil in sheer terror. Of course, the The Reckoning is supposedly coming within the next couple weeks (start clasping those prayer beads ya'll), so I suppose there is a first time for everything!

2011 Worlds in the Ladies event was actually a very interesting one. I don't mind at all if people regress on the jumps IF they are going to try and skate masterful programs that put the music above all else. Given some rule changes to smooth over annoying required CoP movements and allow skaters to become more one with the music, I would be perfectly happy with seeing programs along the lines of what Carolina Kostner, Yu-Na Kim, and Alissa Czisny attempted at 2011 Worlds. The artistic mark is just as important as the technical mark!

Now if the judges would just start scoring PCS properly. As seen from the PCS of not just Miki Ando but many others PCS is often just a combination of reputation and the technical prowess of the performance. Sometimes I have felt Kostner was held up but she definitely deserved the high PCS she got for that program. Some of the others were a different matter however.

I love Carolina, but even Denise, Liz and Katarina had performances that would've medaled during Worlds 2010 and 2011.

That being said, I am certain she will raise her tech next year. She seems the happiest I have ever seen her.

Actually it is kind of interesting that in the United States figure skaters are never picked on by the tabloids. We never see headlines in "The National Enquirer" or "The Star" like, "Kristi Yanaguchi abducted by a flying saucer, gives birth to two-headed alien baby."

According to the U.S. tabloids, interesting adventures like that only happen to people like Michelle Obama (President's wife).
