I'm just amazed on how Yu Na Kim got the ball rolling in producing the next generation of young talented skaters in Korea. Here are clips of Haejin Kim and Park So Yeon. Kim even attempts a triple flip-triple loop. They're both only 13 years old and there is room for a lot of improvement, like speed and power but they are certainly on the right track. AND NO FLUTZING! I see a rivalry brewing which could only help in motivating them. Check it out

What happened to Min Jeong Kwak? Is her back still injured?

Both she and Hae Jin Kim competed at last week's New Zealand Winter Games, and both won their respective event (senior & junior ladies). You can see protocols here.

Kwak scored 42.82 + 83.07 = 125.89. She made some mistakes, but it's early in the season.

Kim scored an impressive 49.66 + 97.17 = 146.83. Kim attempted a 3F+3Lo in both her programs, but the backende triple loop was << in the short and < in the long, though she didn't fall. She attempted 7 triples in her free program and got no edge calls. Her next event is JGP Brisbane, so look out! She's definitely one-to-watch!

This is excellent news. It's wonderful to know that the tradition begun so illustriously by YuNa will continue.

Haejin Kim also won the Asia Trophy, which I did not mention because I was so excited by Han Yan's win there.
But this girl is improving! This 3F/3L was validated.

Do you see her calmness even if she cannot speak English? I like her attitude and expression... maybe she could become a better skater than I can imagine.

Wow! They are both lovely...and Hae-Jin has the arms of an angel. So graceful~
Can't wait to see how these two develop. Their basic skills don't seem to be as strong as some youngsters from other countries, but I think Korea will be on the figure skating radar (besides Yuna, of course) very soon!
