Host City of the 1976 Winter Olympics - the Olympics in which Ice Dancing made its debut!

Bet many of the skater's PARENTS weren't alive or "conscious" enough to remember that factoid

Yeah. The first three JGP winners are all here. It's like a preview of the JGPF. Hopefully no one has an off night or they'll likely get left behind.

Golly ..showtime!

Very tough debut slot for Edwards and Pang..I really like these young'uns, I think they have a bit of an "it" factor. He has that " so-into-his-partner" thing , and she has some sparkle. So ,as well as seeing the 3 previous events' winners head to head, I'll be anxious to see how they do.

Lifts needed work , here , but there's been time in between.

Any predictions? It's the deepest field we've seen so far!

Men
I'm guessing Han Yan and Keiji Tanaka for the two top spots, with He Zhang, Liam Firus, Gordei Gorshkov and Timothy Dolensky fighting for bronze.

Ladies
Zijun Li, Polina Agafonova and Vanessa Lam are podium favorites. If the former make mistakes I think Miu Sato, Kako Tomotaki, So-Youn Park and Katarina Kulgeyko might sneak in.

Pairs
Wenjing Sui/Cong Han for gold, no doubt about it. Xiaoyu Yu/Yang Jin and Margaret Purdy/Michael Marinaro also have a good chance for a podium finish. Klara Kadlecova/Petr Bidar and Ekaterina Petaikina/Maxim Kurduykov could also medal.

Ice Dance
Three gold winners at the same event?! I'm guessing Victoria Sinitsina/Ruslan Zhiganshin for gold, Nicole Orford/Thomas Williams for silver and Maria Nosulia/Evgen Kholoniuk for bronze. Alexandra Aldridge/Daniel Eaton have an outside shot.

The Short Dance event will be very interesting! The Irish/American Team of Aldridge and Eaton are accomplished Dancesport Competitors and study Latin with Elaine Marrero, so they should be fun to watch. For the Free Dance Competition it’s going to be like Junior World’s and should be very entertaining. Kind of a liitle bit from every Country.

Aldridge and Eaton, are dancing to Michael Flatley’s, “Lord of the Dance”. The Russian Team of, Victoria Sinitsina and Ruslan Zhiganshin, portraying the Phantom of the Opera, from the famed L’Opéra Garnier in Paris, France. The Ukrainian Team of, Maria Nosulia and Evgen Kholoniuk, performing their Pink Panther routine - reminiscence of the famous French Detective “Jacques Clouseau”. Canadian’s Nicole Orford and Thomas Williams portraying Scarlet and Rhett from Gone With The Wind, and the Czech Republic’s Team of Karolina Prochazkova and Michal Ceska skating to soundtrack from the Hit Broadway Play “Chicago”. Yiyi Zhang and Nan Wu from China skated the last two years in the JGP Series and could be a contender. Have not heard of the two French Teams. Shari Koch and Christian Nuchtern of Germany have skated JGP before and to Irish Folk (Bill Whelan’s Riverdance) Not sure about some of the other teams.

Eighteen Teams in all, - should be great entertainment, and a really good competition – Let’s hope everyone has a good skate, no one gets hurt, and all the kids enjoy beautiful Innsbruck. Thank You to ISU for videotaping and uploading to You Tube.

I was very favourably impressed with A/E at their first JGP. Which one is Irsh and which American , or do you just mean they're both Irish-American ? I like their "Lord of the Dance " very much !

Earlier , I was saying this was a tough debut for Edwards/Pang ( last yr's Canadian novice champs.) but I see O/W have drawn second to last ..and E/P have drawn last for the SD , so they certainly won't get lost in the shuffle..;)

I know with CoP that doesn't happen as much any more , but there's bound to be some of that , still, in a large field , or when skaters haven't been seen before.

Sui/Han are only in 3rd. I watched their program and don't understand why their death spiral received 0 point. Anyone?

It seemed like Sui's butt may have touched the ice when she was moving from the shoot the duck type position into the death spiral. Maybe. Youtube's not the best way to tell.
