C/L USA are a gorgeous couple. She manages to look endlessly rapturous in the first section. Sure reminds me of Meryl. Did not find her as convincing in the vigorous second section.

I liked H/D as well. His costume is hot in a 70's kind of way. She needs better hair and costuming.

LOVE the Lithuanians. Oops... I mean, the part-Lithuanian couple skating for Lithuania. She's Jessica Simpson on ice. Not that I like JS but the resemblance is striking from afar. More importantly she's a fabulous dancer.

Alexandra Paul & Mitchell Islam CAN
2046 Main Theme (Rhumba Version)

dark purple diagonal cut skirt. lots of spanglies on one side of the top. Another v neck black onesie with sparklies
She falls down on opening moves. She doesn't recover quickly.
lift he's a little shaky on one foot.
rhumba sequence ok.
They exit from it in an unattractive way that might be another screw up.
The twizzles are nice and close together. Circular step. He trips. Then she falls again. They do not get back together quickly . Sort of a lop sided swing to end.
They will want to forget this.

Thanks! I didn't see that post until after I replied. It sounds like it really wasn't their day. Any impressions on the program, though? Does it look like it could be a good vehicle, if they skate it clean?

Samba: Mas Que Nada by Ben Jorge
Samba: Batacuda by Abacaxi
Samba: Real in Rio by S. Mendes, J. Powell, C. Brown
They have the same costumes they have used before in olive, white and chartreuse. She has blue feathery things on one shoulder.

Misinformation from the commentator. They were in Skate America in 2006-2007 season. This is not their first SA.

rhumba sequences
circular step
twizzle in the step; he falls
rhumba sequence
samba stuff
twizzles crossing and untidy on the 2nd, third set ok
Is there something wrong with the ice? There are just too many mishaps tonight.

Thanks everyone for tuning in! It really was a shame about Paul and Islam's falls as the program was really lovely and it looked like they had a lot to work with!

Great, half of Meryl & Charlie's dance wiped out.

Do you know what the heck happened? The screen at the latter half of D/W's dance was wiped out by "universal studio, rugby world something." It annoyed the heck out of me. What's the point of paying annual fee if we can't watch the highlight of the night? The headliners? I'm mad!!

Guess I saved the angst by not watching Paul/Islam implode and the headlining World champs being disrespected.

Can IN get through ONE event without a serious technical glitch? It's embarassing. Seriously, I'm majorly PO'd. Time for an irritated email to customer support considering I just shelled out the subscription fee this afternoon. Grrr.

Of what I saw of D/W this program is a pleasant turn of events. They clearly worked on their latin timing over the summer. Seemed a more natural fit for them compared to the other teams.

Hubbell and Donahue are showing definite early promise. I'm encouraged by them.

Too bad about Paul/Islam's falls and Fabian's silly errors. Still, I love that he and Natalie are using Mas Que Nada (one of my favorite samba pieces). Nice to see that some of these latin programs seem better choreographed than others we've seen. The Russians have a long way to go if they have not made changes to the programs we saw at the test skates.
