virtue and moir cannot dance this short dance convincingly....EXTREMELY awkward opening. such tacky music mixing. bad twizzle placement. i don't think their lift is at all perfect -very awkward and unoriginal. technically strong as always - but performance wise....choreography, performance, timing and INTERPRETATION....nothing blow 8.75.....?!

i was always fond of their OD/SDs -they always hit the right mood.........this is a massive drop from 2009-2010 (not considering their slapped on SD last season)

they need to reconsider the pacing and music of this program....i'm glad their expressing or attempting to portray the dance as well as they can unlike others but.....

need a palette cleanse.

I expect that V&M will make changes to their SD by TEB. I wouldn't condemn them so thoroughly at the first showing of a dance as to see "cannot".

Maybe it's me, but Moir is skating this program like a suburban white boy. Loosen up those hips!

It is darn hard to do much hip churning while skating, and the couples who have really succeeded at it while skating a COP high scoring program is...crickets.

Most couples confine the hip action to a posing section or two or three, do hip wiggling while on two feet in transitional sections or switch quickly from a forward to backward edge to simulate hip motion. If the girl has a big pouf of skirt switching around, the illusion is good for her; not so much for the guy.

If the teams are very good, there will be some forward & backward hip action.

Here's some COP Latin OD's by World & Olympic medallists to look at.

Very strong words. I found nothing awkward about the lift - smooth entrance and transition, well placed (transforming the lift last season from one of bracingly outsized sexuality to a more subdued but no less carnal one) and done. I thought the twizzles were also well placed. I'll agree that the opening needs to be fixed and the interpretation can stand to be improved, but to argue that they won't dance it convincingly - especially when many people based on TEB/SC said the same thing about their flamenco OD - or at least I did - seems to royally underestimate their abilities.

And what was wrong with their timing? The second rhumba and the circular steps were masterclasses in timing. The way the intro to that sequence matched the descending chords of "Temptation" alone means this dance is worth enjoying.

such tacky music mixing.
.

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks the music editing is awful!
I think they have fallen into the trap of editing the music to fit the elements, thus cutting it up all over the place.
If I was a judge I would make a music deduction!

their lift might be fast and smooth - but the body lines.....and the shape they create when transitioning...isn't spectacular. i like ice dance for its freedom and creativity....unlike pair where they do minimal changes.

twizzles didn't do anything to/with the music.

i know its early in the season - but....this is more a question of taste rather than skill....there are a lot o tacky teams out their but at V/Ms level....no no....

(i highlighted interpretation in caps for a reason)

yes.

facial expression, chemistry, and flourishing arm hand movements don't sum up interpretation

;) Those skirts are the one thing I dislike about Anna's costumes, in general.I keep wishing she'd forego them because they don't move as well.

No wonder I thought she looked so good in the silver bodice...she always does.
