Does anyone know how it works if a skater competes in more than 2 GP events? I remember when Weir competed in 3 in 2005 the ones that were going to be counted toward his GPF points were already predetermined. Is it still the same or am I remembering completely wrong. I'm just curious b/c Brezina is skating in CoR too.

It's a very tough dance field. Of course, V&M will run away with the gold, and at home, I think it is a given that P&B will take the silver. However, the bronze will be difficult. I like C/L's programs better, particularly their FD, than I&K's.

Pechalat/Bourzat, from Skate America where Fabian had bronchitis
SD 60.07, but with a -1 deduction for the fall, and bronchitis
FD 96.22 with the bronchitis

Capellini/ Lanotte from Skate Canada
SD 61.92 (and a nice one it is)
FD 92.95

Ilinykh/Katsalapov from NHK, where Elena bruised her knee badly prior to the FD
SD 61.83
FD 87.65

I'm hoping for C/L to medal here..I ,too, prefer their programs to I/K and it was so good to see them skating so well at SC , and really on the comeback trail.

Joubert has withdrawn---his back hasn't healed enough for him to chance competition.

I've been wondering that too...

I believe the best 2 of 3 results may be applied towards GPF qualification, considered an unfair advantage by many. However, there is financial penalty against the the earnings from 2 participated events if the skater/team withdraws from an event for whatever reason, even medical. The French Dance team of P/B has already suffered the consequences when they withdrew from SC after he skated in SA while sick with bronchitis. Ironically, they entered 3 events for financial reasons.

I will cheer for Viktoria too as I enjoyed seeing her relate with her sister and her mom at SkateAmerica.

I would love to see Viktoria do well here too, her programs are lovely this year, she just needs to nail those jumps:biggrin:

Very tough for her though, Alissa and Carolina should be top 2:)

I believe Chock and Bates are also entered for TEB - Bates tweeted about it a few days ago.
