C/L technically spot on, but to me that program was boring. Maybe because I really dislike la strada.

SP Second Place 66.52
FD "Mummy and Pharaon": "Passion" ; Composer : Peter Gabriel; "In The Garden" ; Composer : Narada World; "Le retour de Punt" ; Composer : Bernard Becker; "Alf Layla Wa Layla" ; Composer : Ahmad Sidqi
Same mummy with the diaper costume as SA
She's laid out as dead, on his foot
He pulls her up.
Off they skate
Handstand lift-not too straight up; I thought they were going to lose it, but he kept it OK
Deep edged steps with walk like an Egyptian hands by both of them
He's on one knee, she stands on his thigh
More Egyptian hands into the twizzles. Need more ice coverage, 3 sets, OK
She leans onto his back
Flips over his head to stand on his thighs He's in a back cantilever spread eagle
Steps. More Egyptian hands
into the pair spin. With the hands.
You could say that is the character of the piece, or that it's a touch too much
Steps to fast near eastern music
Lots of clapin
An up and then unwrap down lift back into her beginning position, a bit off
Should easily be in first.
FD 98.04 new SB
Total 164.56 into first, of course

I'm having a little trouble coming up with a narrative that accounts for a smiling mummy who looks like a WWI bombing victim. This program blows. Tell me there's no home field advantage.
Very awkward moment at the end - was there a slip?
I thought they blew the ending pose, but it was a transitional lift; no penalty.
Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir CAN
SP First Place 71.18
FD Funny Face musical score: Funny Face; Basal Metabolism; S'Wonderful
Tessa's in the red dress (looks great), but still has the schoolmarm bun
Scott has the strange thin red Boy Scout tie still. I presume Astaire wore one?
Tap dancing to start
Off they dance very smooth
A certain amount of mugging, required for musical comedy
Basal metabolism
lift. that looked awkward
twizzles. Very close together
more tap
Nice positions in the pair spin.
She falls back; he catches her,
S'wonderful
She has lovely arms
Flips into an upside down rotational lift, nice quick turns
Another lift, flip into a nice pose, rotate out.
To end.
Very, very nice.
105.75
-1 deduction (I'm guessing the awkward lift was too long)
176.93 into first.

The Pechalat/Bourzat story is that he prays to the gods for one last dance, she comes to life, they dance, then she goes back to being a mummy.
And an open program has a lot of hand to hand skating, or skating apart.

Tessa and Scott were a class above everyone else, but it is not my favourite FD of theirs.
PS Is it just me or was there relatively much two foot skating compared to their previous FDs?

Ahh..that's why the strange tie. I thought it must be an Astaire touch.

Congrats to the medalists! V/M so smooth and technically superb well deserved first place.
Nat and Fabian were spot on, mummy wrap and all, good for them. Anna and Luca, their FD it is my favorite.
Is it crazier than that a 19 year old girl falls in love with a 60 year old photographer (Funny Face)
Or vice versa?
It's ice dance![]()
Thank you Doris for the breakdown on the programs. You are the best!
congratulations to all medalist
virture moir, pechalat/bourzat, cappellini and lanotte
