I just rewatched Patrick's last year National LP vs this year. I can't decide which one I like more. I love both. I just realized last year's LP, his TES was actually higher than this year, 103.41 vs 103.21. It's almost identical. The difference is in the PCS, 93.66 vs 97.60.

Have you checked out the ISU channel, upper right corner of the screen at

www.isu.org

They broadcast Europeans, and will be broadcasting 4CC's.
:yay::clap: It works. I can see the 'test streaming'. (BTW, who's that Doris? Looks a bit like Kurt .. at least his hair ) I am surprised that we have access in the southern hemisphere. Can't believe that Canada cannot access despite being next door to USA?

The video following the one I linked earlier is very interesting too, with Patrick watching and commenting on his winning skate at 2008 Nationals. I love hearing skaters commenting on their performances, telling us about what was on their mind while skating.

Revealing for me are: That 3F was his favorite then and 3S the least. What about 4F vs 4S, Patrick? That he was a rhythm skater and also about the breathing during skating. As well, I find his fitness and endurance has improved so much that it's become one of his competitive advantages. He was pretty out of breath at the end of this outstanding performance. The program felt like an hour! That is how tough skating a LP is, contrary to the belief of many who think it's relatively easy physically.

Krall is attracting students after her spectacular success with Patrick. She was coaching part time when she took in Patrick who has thanked her for doing so. She was and is a specialist but I immediately liked her and Nichol's holistic approach for Patrick.
Very belated response/addition to this comment, SkateFiguring. I like Kristy. I have been observing her behavior in the youtubes and she comes across as caring, encouraging and funny. In the World 2011 youtube, she jumped with joy when Patrick hit the quad (I think she would have screamed out loud if the camera had not been directed at her. She looked at the camera and reined in her reaction. hahaha), calling Patrick Harvey Banger and asking whether there are tel. numbers on the chanties. :rofl:I noticed when Patrick tried to tell that that he didn't skate well, she would stay positive by telling him it's a great job. Muah Kristy. You worked wonders with Patrick. Wonderful teamwork.

I appreciate that Patrick did not choose a "hot" coach but one that he felt a good connection with and who could help him with his main concern, the big jumps. Krall, like all his previous coaches, saw his talents and other attributes making for great potential and took him on when she had chosen to coach part time. Coaching is so much more than teaching of techniques. It is so essential that Krall's sense of humour keeps Patrick calm and focused at competitions. They, as a team that includes other specialists, also have an overall plan and path for a whole season and more, keeping him grounded and not be reactive to each event, like fans do. ;)

Patrick, on his part, knows and appreciates the good people in his life to surround himself with. Smart.

Patrick's interview with the Orange Team to compare with the 2008 one. (I just noticed he was the orange one.)

The Canadian Nationals Gala is now on CTV site. If it's not geoblocked, you can play clip 10 to watch Amelie Lacoste, Tessa/Scott, and Patrick's new show program. Or you can wait for Youtube.

From Macleans Magazine: In conversation: Patrick Chan, On embracing failure, watching his mouth, and the sports he wishes he played.

Patrick's 2012 Nationals Ex is up on Tudou before Youtube.

There were moments I thought he's going to slip because of those crazy edges. Now...despite how great the skate was, his artistry was just...:disapp:

A: Sometimes—it’s funny. People know me so well now, they know which jumps are really shaky, where I’m unsure. Like the triple axel in Moncton [at the nationals]. I’ve worked a lot on it, so I wasn’t as nervous as usual. But when I landed it, I heard someone go: “Yesss!”

I heard that Yesss too, lol.

:p

LOL ... blamed his mum for not letting him play ice hockey, :) Indeed, the big hoo-haa saga has taught him be more careful which is sad as I always like his refreshing candidness. It is good to know Patrick took the setback as a big learning curve. Afterall, no pain no gain. He has shown that he is able look at his own weaknesses and refocus to improve and build on his strengths. Good on you Patrick. We are all looking forward to your achieving your goals. That's how champions are made.

This is the problem with the media. When you say what's in your mind, you get in trouble. So now, just say whatever people like to hear to be safe and to make them happy.

Lots of gems in this interview, as often the case with Patrick. But this, when asked what Boitano taught him,

A: I can’t tell you.

Good for you Patrick, don't give it away. Then he followed up immediately with

Basically it’s all about self-dialogue, telling myself:............(and so on and so forth.)

LOL.

It's really easy to get to the bottom of the truth on something you want to know from Patrick, even when he told you that he's not going to tell you the truth. One thing is certain that Patrick cannot be a secret agent.

As of his hands, I, too, think they were designed that way in POTO.

Of course they were. Why else would he start his program like that every time, which was not natural? And he consistently did it at specific parts of the program, not as if his hands were uncontrollably natural that way. In a competitive program, it is part of the Performance and Interpretation of the PCS, like making the O face for some others.

Or a politician, or a cheating spouse.
