I do believe the podium will be Mao, Carolina and Akiko in that order. It is possible Caro may take first. This has been her year, but I hope for Mao to win, as she has had a hard year thus far.

My wishes:

--Mao skates beautifully at Worlds, wins third World title
--Akiko finally medals at Worlds
--Carolina does not wear unitard at Euros/Worlds :) . . . er, continues to skate well at Euros/Worlds
--Mirai pulls herself together, regains her spark, skates well at Nationals
--Alissa skates decently at Nationals, avoids falling apart again
--Rachael retires
--Yu-Na continues to skate in shows in North America (or even decides to compete again--unlikely, I know)
--Shizuka performs in more shows in North America

--Daisuke lands quad, skates brilliantly at Worlds, wins World title
--Plushenko comes back with same jumps and improved transitions/choreography
--Fernandez continues great season, solidifies contender status, medals at Euros/Worlds
--Johnny Weir decides to come back, starts training seriously
--Top 10 men at Worlds skate the way we know they can
--Jeremy Abbott stops falling/making mistakes in every program
--Patrick Chan stops falling/making mistakes in every program
--Ross Miner continues to improve, makes World team, finishes top 8 at Worlds
--Armin Mahbanoozadeh gets back on track, skates well at Nationals/4CCs, possibly makes World team

--Savchenko/Szolkowy win Worlds with their best performance yet of Pina
--Volosozhar/Trankov get better programs next season
--Pang/Tong train with different coach this summer to get new perspective, address weak spots in their skating (lift positions, spins)
--Narumi Takahashi trains with jump specialist/sports psychologist this summer; learns how to land jumps
--Caitlin Yankowskas finds great new partner, comes back next season
--Castelli/Shnapir finally skate a clean program at Nationals

--Davis/White and Virtue/Moir continue to skate great and take their rivalry to new heights
--Davis/White choose a romantic or intimate program for next season to address criticism that they don't relate to each other on ice (which I don't agree with anyhow, but still would like to see them address the issue head-on)
--Virtue/Moir continue to choose challenging programs outside their "romantic" comfort zone
--Shibutanis grow/improve in maturity and musical expression
--Hubbell/Donohue win bronze at Nationals, make World team

GS Forum begins the "Change CoP for the better project"

Love this idea!! What's the next step? Start a new thread to get ideas, then perhaps send letter with proposal to ISU?

Chan's SP is fine, unlike Bobrova & Soloviev who are skating a program that looks like it was choreographed in the 1980's. This team needs to get with the times. They are so talented and wonderful and they keep getting saddled with LP's that look like they were choreographed for competitions in the last century.

I forget my most fervent wish: to see Michelle Kwan skate again in 2012!

Oh, skategods, I only have 2 very humble wishes for 2012:

1) Judges will distinguish between the different components of PCS more when deserved.

2) Canadian Stars on Ice will hire Stephane Lambiel for their tour. I'm a poor student but I will willingly eat ramen for a fortnight in exchange for tickets if I get the chance to see Stephane Lambiel live!

Indeed, to see Stephane skating some great numbers. Unfortunately it seems to be only in youtube -maybe ATS performances or Plushy's Kings on Ice tours, or Japan SOI if they have him.

Stephane and Jeff Buttle are two skaters we don't get to see in the few US pro shows. Stephane has so much more to show as an artist. With skaters heading for education/jobs as they must, we won't see artists like Kristi, Kirk, Boitano, Kwan. Wylie, Petrenko emerge and have 15-20 year careers. It is so crazy that this skating boom started with an assault on an Olympic skater. There were a lot of cheesefests but we did see artists keep their standards while growing with new programs. Kulik was so inventive.

My biggest wish is something (not Nancy getting clubbed! God forbid) amazing, something that brings great attention to the sport this year to bring a mini boom. If skaters kept up their jumps and did technically difficult programs with beautiful artistry, like Shizuka, that might help bring back SOI. I think the idea of Scott hiring his preferred friends has hurt SOI. They need a format change not just Kurt doing choreography-maybe gymnastics, cirque de soleil, live music. I think people will pay for someting different. The quality of the show and a different type production might help revive pro skating at a high level.

I wish for a revived SOI to have a big sponsor and have the best pros work really hard to do competitive type skating. Apparently people don't want to pay a lot for the pro level we saw at Caesars II. I think only Shizuka and Joannie were up to par. And Joannie should be keeping up her triples.

Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Rimski-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky from last two centuries too.
Bobrova/Solovev LP is “Faust” by Charles Gounod 1859.
They have beautiful traditional Russian style and choreography, why suddenly they will change it. It’s defiantly a challenge to skate to the opera, but they have the talent.
ISU rules don’t say skaters have to dance to lady gaga from this century.

Dragonlady isn't unhappy with the musical choices, she's unhappy with the choreographic choices which are better suited to the old rules in her opinion.
