good 3-3 for Mao. i hope she takes out the double axel-3 toe combo out of her free, it always looks nasty and she never really makes it.

what the hell? her 2A-3T is beautiful when she does the combination it has great height and ice coverage!
and if Mao is going to put her 3f-3l in the fs it's going to be instead the 3f-2l cause that way she wouldn't need to change her other jump content!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO0W5A5IKug Here's a video with Mao's triple-triples. She started to get downgrades in 2007-2008 but still had some ratified combos that season. Then in 2008-2009 she really lost her consistency on her triple-triples. On the other hand, her 3F+3Lo's from 2006-2007 were in most cases wonderful.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxFjlJpi5MY Slutskaya landed several fully rotated ones with 3Lo as the second half.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUcZWY_uB6w Here Miki Ando landed a lot of ratified ones but at the beginning of 2008-2009 she started to get them downgraded and this discouraged her from trying them.

Lipinski was already mentioned. Most of her triple-triples were fully rotated which for me is unbelievable considering her poor height.

What really burns my butt, besides a fire three ft high, is that after I am dead, you all will be able to tune your TVs to Japanese TV and actually watch this great competition....all I got to see was Sarah Hughes.

Out of all of those 3-3s Irina did,

I'd say only 2 of them are clean.

For me, I'm only talking about the 3R jump as the backhalf of a 3/3R combo., that's it. And none, except Tara Lipinski, qualify as having mastered it, meaning fully rotated. Not Miki, not Irina, not Mao, not Sarah, not Adelina, not Yuna, not any female skater, especially those skating today. 50/50 doesn't cut it; mastered means at least 70% of the time. And IIRC most coaches won't even allow their skater to put such a jump/combo. into their repertoire unless they have an 80% or above sucess rate of doing it in practice.

It cost Tara a hip, but she's not the only one whom paid a high price for figure skating hardware, plenty of others have lost a hip as well, and I'm pretty sure they would say it was well worth it. Jmho.

For me, it just proves what an extremely difficult combination the 3R as the backhalf of a 3/3R combo. is, which is why one doesn't see it very often anymore, because more often than naught a female skater cannot fully rotate the backhalf of the 3R part. Hats off when they do so, and especially the one that can do so on a consistent basis.

ps: and I give them all props for trying, even though it's no cigar.

But Tara competed for such a short time. Who knows, maybe if she had competed for more seasons she wouldn't have been able to do those triple-triples anymore cleanly. I would give Miki and Mao credit for mastering those combos because in 2006-2007 they were consistently nailing them with full rotation. Then there came a time in their career when they couldn't do them anymore cleanly but again, who knows how long Tara would've been able to do them if she had competed longer?

I believe it was training those triple loop combinations that caused Tara to retire early with chronic hip injuries. So, yeah, either way there seems to be brief window.

If the following -3loop combos don't qualify as fully rotated, I'd like to see a CG video version of the combo as a model so we can all stop having to go crazy with super slo-mos and pre-rotation arguments!
