As for the overused Piano Concerto No: 2 I hope a lot of people can agree, but no one has come close to Chen Lu, that program especially world's 96 was breathtaking - Michelle and Chen double gold there.

Yu Na Danse Macabre "BOY" that was good (best rendition), loved her OO7 too though........
I agree that Michelle has the best program to the Kawai's version...well the most impact

I think Takeshi Honda had the best version to the classic rendition by rodrigo.

Best Rach 3: Michelle Kwan 1997-98 SP
Best Rach Prelude in C# Minor: Jeffrey Buttle
I think of them when anyone else skates to these. 2 of the best shorts ever.

Johnny had a portion of Lady Caliph in his last Olympic LP. The rest of the music was by Ennio Morricone, correct me if I am wrong.

    I loved that program too.

I have to agree. Every time I hear this song I think of them. Johnny skated to it but all I could think of was B/S.

I don't think anyone else and do malenguena after Sasha. Just not the same.

I feel that Honda's program to Aranjuez has Kwan's beat by a mile. It'll be interesting if Chan does end up skating his program to this piece without major disruptions because I think he could pose a threat to Honda's #1 spot on my list.

Best Romeo and Juliet... Sasha's FS at the 06 Olympics. Extremely bittersweet program but it was skated with such emotion and feeling.

Best Dark eyes... Sasha's SP @ 06 Olympics. She was on fire.

And someone else beat me to it but it's so true... the BEST phantom of the opera is Meryl's and Charlie's!

Malaguena- Kristi's Olympic LP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dozwFZ5NoNs Not the best performance of it, but I can't find one of US Nationals.

Unfortunately, there isn't a You Tube video of Punsalan and Swallow's Umbrellas of Cherbourg.... there is one of Usova and Platov's but P&S's was so much better.

Editing to add the 'making of' vidoe of Kristis' Malaguena. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7-6B...eature=related

IMO Honda and Michelle didn't skate to the same Aranjuez music. Honda skated to the slower classical rendition.

While Kristi's is no doubt the best in terms of technical difficulty combined with artistry, I think this program is the best performance, musically speaking, of The Blue Danube.

Jenaj, Kristi's skating as a pro was beautiful and so much better than amateur days where she was mostly bouncy and a good jumper but very lacking in style, grace, mediocre elements. Kristi was at her best 6-10 years after her OGM and she kept a high tech content. She was peerless as a pro in SOI, with the exception of Tara who was so mature at 19.

But you might as well retire every piece of music Janet Lynn skated to. Only John Curry or Toller Cranston could compete with her other worldly essence and purity and flow. Her command of the ice was not seen in other women of her era. She was so different, so much better at edges, flow, beautiful basics. Only Dorothy Hamil with her perfect back could keep you glued just watching her stroke around the rink. There is one MK program, well maybe two that compete with Janet. Lyra Angelica was MK at her purest and most inspired skating. While a more powerful MK emerges in Tosca, the young Michelle hit her peak in 97-98 with this program.I think Michelle hit her artistic peak at 17. A couple different East of Eden performances from this era evoke the magical Michelle. It is clear she emulated Janet and had that joy on the ice. To think Janet had three boys and came back after 5 years and could still skate so exquisitely.

I think no one will ever match Janet Lynn's interpretation of Afternoon of a Faun or Blue Danube, but there is always hope. I can't imagine anyone ever skating to Lyra Angelica. It should be retired. OT but I wish Laurie Nichol were searching out new and unused peices for Mirai. Her musicality is not being tapped this season.

Blues for Klook - Daisuke Takahashi

TV and CP screens don't do any justice to this performance. It is one of the skatings you shoud see live. Cameras follow his moves on the ice, but from stands you can see how he moves across the ice and how he commands the ice and owns the arena. You can see how majestic and charismatic his moves are. Last off season he took ballet lessons and went to Schonfelder to learn skating. He worked a lot to improve. However, you can't see anything he learned in the way he interprets this music. All you can see is he feels the music with his soul and just delivers it to the audience. IMO no one else, only Daisuke can make this music sound so charming and attractive.
