As in the Hot Men's selection, the PB dates indicate progression trends. The closer the PB record, the better the chances of replicating or surpassing it.

This a strange mix because I only include the currently competing Seniors, which includes Fumie Suguri, (still Hot ) but excludes Julia Lipnitskaia, and Adelina Sotnikova (below Suguri's score ). Gracie Gold is just after Caroline Zhang.

The list will be updated after 4CC to reflect current hotness more realistically.

I saw the thread title and said to myself why is SF starting a Hot Ladies thread. Cute play on words, you are too funny.

Thanks for the scores

Hmmm... I appreciate this kind of project, SkateFiguring, but I'm not sure your methodology has the best possible predictive power. Here are some thoughts on why:

First, I'm not sure that adding the rank of someone's personal best to the rank of the recency [is that a word?] of their personal is the most appropriate way to weigh these two factors relative to each other.

Second, what if someone achieved their personal best a while back, but has been achieving scores very near their personal best (or at least better than most everyone else) recently? This method would not account for that. For example, in the list above, you are using Mao Asada's Olympic score (I think). It is possible she will never beat that, which means as time passes, she will drop further and further down your list, despite being a favorite to win gold in every event she enters.

Last, wouldn't a better way to predict the likelihood of future success simply be to take a skater's average score in major competitions over the last year?

This is not a prediction, more about trending though it might help weigh in prediction. As I explained in the Men's list, it is more like charting pop stars, having the greatest hit currently or recently makes one hotter than having the one's best seller a long while ago, but someone else' old hit may be the all time greatest and that counts a lot. I only include the currently competing Seniors with the highest official PB. It only shows the current status, which can change instantly with the next result, without analyzing the individual circumstances. A skater may have an older PB because of injury or, because he keeps Oda'ing himself. :) Such skaters may not have peaked as their older PB may imply. A well deserved and justified PB at the most recent Nationals does not count either. This is not about the greatest, or lifetime achievements. Just it is as it is, a current snap shot.

In fact, I came up with the "Hot" name after compiling the first lists, the Men's. Turned out to be attention grabbers.

She stays on the list on account of her high PB and for as long as she keeps competing, until she's bumped off because of ever higher PB by others. Yes, she  Like an older rock star with a monster hit that's become a classic.

hmm... monster hit... classic... so we should expect a re-make any time now?

may i suggest that somebody re-make YNK's lark ascending? and mao's nocturne?
