This is just painful to watch. Why did they bring this comp here with all the bad history about the high altitude ?

It seems SC wanted Cynthany to go to Worlds because otherwise they wouldn't have had this 4CC "skate off." With that said, however, it would be hard to justify sending anyone but Lacoste to Worlds, as she has beaten Phaneuf three times this season.

Victoria looked sooooo much better yesterday in a Latin program and a costume that didn't have a headband. : (

Clean is great and all, but Amélie has beaten Cynthia for the third time this season, in head-to-head competition, and neither is known for skating clean. Shouldn't that count as well, Nadine? I understand everyone has their favourites, but considering the circumstances it's not like it's the first competition of the season in which Cynthia is second to Amélie, and by only a small margin - it's the *third* time. And Amélie is ahead by virtue of her PCS scores here, so, really, if Skate Canada still sends Cynthia... then I'm ashamed of my federation.

(Imaginary Pogue, I quoted you because that's exactly what I think!)

I absolutely agree with the both of you. Plus, I find Amelie this year far more aesthetically pleasing than before (minus the hair).

Well......not Victoria's night either. Hopefully the final group has fewer meltdowns, because the skating is getting a bit difficult to watch at this point.

I agree. I had high hopes for Haruka and Bingwa (as well as the Canadian ladies of course) but they all struggled tonight.

Aww Amelie is Canada's Rachel Flatt

Au contraire, Rachael Flatt has a mind of *steel*, just like Zhenya & Michelle, she skates clean (except the year she was injured) 99% of the time.

Also, she's a JOYOUS skater, no comparison at all to Lacoste. :p

Back to Cynthia, she's done everything SC has told her to do, that is going to Brian Orser, working on her jumps, et al, they owe her imho.

It is ridiculous talk about Amelie "beating" Cynthia when it is a matter of (as Blades said) a few hundredths of a point. It's a tie, folks. They have to hold another skateoff or decide on beauty points, or who has the best coach... or send Navarro. : )

when is the decision announced ?

....if Cynthia's the BEST skater, then why can't she beat an inferior skater like Amelie?

did SC say that regardless of any other considerations, whoever scored better at 4C would go to Worlds? or were they more vague? In other words did they leave themsleves any " wiggle room"?

Also, after we send Amelie to a hair stylist and make up artist , can we get Cynthia a new costume designer - all her costumes look alike and none of them fit - she is a big girl ( compared to the many teenie lady skaters ) and rather than compliment her strong athletic look ,the costumes she wears arent well cut or proportioned so she looks manly :scowl:- and why always the same neckline????

Don't post a lot but the whole high altitude thing is ridiculous. High altitude is essentially a fitness test....if you fail that test thats your own problem. Its an excuse and nothing more.

I really don't think altitude has anything to do with what we are seeing.

I always wonder if Skate Canada doesn't still have lingering thoughts that they "owe" Cynthia support since she was encouraged not to go to senior worlds oh so long ago when she first won her national title. That's the karma I still think about wrt Cynthanny.

Cynthia Phaneuf looks about 10 lbs heavier than she used to be. She needs to lose a bit. My Mom said she looks heavier than me and I weigh 140 lbs, although I know the camera adds 10 lbs.

I was too heavy to continue with figure skating, naturally, and I wasn't about to starve. lol.

I don't always agree with COP but it's the only "objective" way of looking at results in terms of numbers. In my book, even a 0.01 difference would be sufficient to declare one skater a winner over the other.
