So much info about Dai, thanks deedee! I did notice the changes that were made to
Sonatina at TEB.
Love Vogue Dai!
Sonatina at TEB.
Love Vogue Dai!
I really want Dai to be 'saving himself' for Japan Nationals. BE READY DAISUKE!
This one is for let's talk and other fans who miss Dai and his skating during this quiet off season:

The above montage was uploaded by one of his fans when Dai injured his knee in 2008-09 season. I remember this montage helped many of his fans, me included, to keep a positive attitude when nobody was certain whether his comeback was ever possible at that time.
There was another montage featured with the song "The Rose" by Bette Midler that consoled my soul back then. It was deleted unfortunately, though... Let me allow to write its lyrics because is so beautiful.
-----------------------------------------
Some say love it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love it is a hunger
And endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
And you its only seed
It's the heart afraid of breakin'
That never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of wakin'
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dyin'
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose

Daisuke and his beautiful skating is 'The Rose' for me. Even without an Olympic medal or World title he won. Personally I don't care about another Olympic/World medal, to be honest. I am simply grateful for the fact that Dai and his team can fully prepare for this season without worrying about any injuries this time. And fans can wait for another season to begin in peace and look forward to seeing his skating again. What a difference compared to four years ago! But I, for one, shall be most grateful to skating god if He let Dai skate one more time on the Olympic ice, because that's what he wants and because its venue 'Russia' means a lot to him, his team and his fans.
Russia is the venue where 17y.o. Dai and Utako sensei lived for months and had to share a small cheap hotel room to learn the world top level of skating skills for him and to learn world top level of coaching skills for her. Russia is the venue where Takeshi, now his jump coach, got the unforgettable/unfortunate ankle injury when it most counted, had to withdraw from the Worlds 2005 after the preliminary round, and had to put all burden to young Dai to get Torino Olympic spot(s). And Russia is the homeland for the devoted coach NM and for the devoted fan LT who fell in love with Dai's skating. Just like many of us.
The next morning after his disappointing 5th finish at 2011 Moscow Worlds. When asked about his future by J-media who rather expected a retirement announcement from him, Dai answered instead: http://www.47news.jp/topics/sportscolumn/2011/05/post_206.php
"I may not be able to end my competitive career with the best senario/results as I would hope for. At this point, I don't even know where the limit of my capability shall be. But I want to give it a try and see how far I can go from here. I may drop in the standings yet again, but I still want to fight it out with these fellow Japanese male skaters. I want to believe in potentials left in me."
The same day he and Utako sensei together re-visited the old ice rink and hotel in Moscow where they stayed in 2003, for the first time since then.
At the end of the above montage when asked about his dream, very young Dai answered shyly:
"Dream? My dream...? To get on the Olympic podium. That's my dream."
May an Angel be with Daisuke as he is heading into his 12th (and probably his final competitive) season on the senior circuit.
A nice lengthy piece on CNN on Daisuke! Also features a nearly 3-minute video. Part of CNN's Human to Hero series.
