^^

And my apologies for replying this late (not doing so much much earlier), but thanks a million for your kind words below. :)

I am going to J-Nats this weekend.
......
I know not all of his fans on this GS Forum can be there, of course, but I want to believe you all being by my side at the arena and rooting for him with me. And Dai sure needs support and big cheers from you all, as usual and probably more than ever!

Deedee1, I am very happy that you are able to go, and I can't wait to hear from you what it was like. I will be there in spirit, and will be up at 4AM here in the U.S. cheering Dai on through my computer screen :) He is and will always be my favorite skater, and he has my support no matter what. It makes me very happy that he has so many loyal supporters on this site and across the world.

Thank you deedee for your thoughts and report. Reading along it made me feel like I was sitting right beside you watching Dai in that arena. Lovely!

Without believing ya all being with me, I would never ever have survived those nail-biting and heartbreaking 3-days! ;)

This was such an emotionally draining Nationals! If I feel that way, I can't imagine what the skaters must feel like! I'm a rather new skating fan (since 2010 Olympics) -- is this what the Olympic season is always like?!?! So many emotions and so much heartbreak </3

I would say 'yes'. This was my second time attending the Nats in my life. The first one was four years ago for the Games in Vancouver, but I have to admit the second time around was much worse than I had prepared for. I don't think I will be able to survive the third one anymore...><

Some videos. As usual, sorry in advance if posted somewherealready.

^Thanks deedee for all of the Dai information. Any news on whether Dai has arrived in Russia yet? I know from a previous interview he said that he
would be arriving on the 27th. Although if he is there I don't know how he could have sneaked in without the media attention.

^^ The news here has said Narumi & Ryuichi already arrived and Tatsuki has left for Sochi today, but no news on other skaters so far, either, unfortunately.

DAY 3 at Nats

On our way to the arena for the third day, I recalled how I had felt when the Nats was about to start. There is only one person in the world (except my husband) who knew/understood how I had felt and ill-wished back then ;) The worst possible nightmare to me would be Dai to skate on the injured knee, only to damage it further by going for 3Axels and those damn quads...thus it might push him out to retirement sooner than expected/desired... To tell the truth, the very selfish- and ill-natured side of me was hoping Dai to decide, or his doc to suggest, withdrawal from the Nats, because even though he were to miss Sochi, it was vey very likely that he at least can be selected to the Worlds in Tokyo in March based on JSF criteria. Or, if he were to, had to, wanted to compete there, I would have liked he simply took out quads and all 3As even, from both programs and focus on skating clean. the Feds will surely hold him up onto the podium with skyrocket PCS...what a bad girl I was. indeed. Its payback was very harsh as a result: I got home late freezing and after a hot shower on the night of Free skate, a couple of online news told me that Daisuke might announce his retirement from the competitive skating if not named to the team. 'oh, here comes a nightmare. a punishment for such an ill-wish!', I thought. That probably was the worst moment for me...

But, then I reminded myself that I should be rather thankful, instead of mournful, for the fact that if this one might have been his very last competitive skate, I at least could get to see it live.
I tried my best to shake off my negative mood. Day 3 was Ladies Free. And the last day of this season's Nationals. I should better focus on cheering for Akko, Miki, Mao and all other wonderful girls and wishing them to skate lights-out. With lots of love and gratitude to these wonderful skaters who have given us so many great moments with their stunning performances full of their heart all these years. And on behalf of demarinis and other big fans of them, who were unable to be here but believeing they were sitting right beside me in spirit. By the time I arrived the arena, along with other 18,000 people(!!!), I was in a good mood to thoroughly enjoy the competition.
And you all know its outcome, right? Our fabulous, tough, gusty, brave and passionate J-girls NEVER disappoint skating fans! That's how the Nats should be. Especially the one once every four years. Indeed, many of these girls skated lights-out by trying their best in their own way. I don't remember well how many times the crowds got onto its feet for ovations. ^^

After such great Ladies Free skate, we had to wait almost two hours that was most anxious and unbearable. I was getting less and less talkative as a second ticked away, by my husband's side feeling as if forever to me, until announcement of the team for the Olympics and Worlds finally.

-Olympic team announcement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6bfSdpDRR8

-Dai's comment starts from 8:47: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xox0kE4aSeY
"Er...for these two days...(lots of clapps, cheers and screams of 'Omedatou (=congratulations)', then his smile and bow)...Arigatou-gozaimasu. I thank you for all your support for these two days. Er...(looking around the arena and getting emotional)... I have been thinking what words I was going to say...here, in front of you...er...ever since I knew I was selected to the team... But, I just can't find any words that best describes how I am feeling now, really...er...(again looking around)...arigatou-gozaimasu...(long pose, teary-eyed and more bows)...about the Olympic Games...to be honest with you, I had believed my dream of competing at the Games vanished, completely, after my free skate. But, for the fact that I can be here...like this, upon this announcement for the Olympic team...I am most happy and grateful to be here.
In order to compete at the Olympics, I will dump my previous self who has been such lukewarm and unfocused all along until today, and will force myself into training, training and training every single day leading up to Sochi. so that I can perform so well there, to the degree of representing my own country-worthy/deserving to everyone's eyes. So I would appreciate all of you so much for your continued support."

Assuming some of fans of Dai on GS Forum are worried about the unfortunate news on this season's SP music 'Sonatina for Violin', his agent has posted a brief (and probably hastily, and for the time being) message at Kansai University Dai's blog today: http://w3.kansai-u.ac.jp/sports/message/takahashi/

Rough translation:

"To those who support Daisuke Takahashi

First of all, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for always supporting Daisuke Takahashi.

There has been reported today that the music used for this season's SP 'Sonatina for Violin' was not accurately composed by Mr Mamoru Samuragouchi alone. None of Takahashi himself, nor its team members all concerned, previously have recognised, or have been notified anything on this matter at all, either.
We have no intention of changing his SP, with the music in question.
As we are in the very important time of the season; the Olympic Games is about to start, very soon, we believe our focus at this point as the team is, and should be we do what we have to do, positively and earnestly, so that we can fully prepare ourselves to compete at the Games.

With best regards,

Daisuke Takahashi's Management
Universal Sports Marketing

I just read a Dutch news article on this. Really adore that music, and am glad to read they are not going to change it. *relieved*

I heard about this news last night. Mr. Samuraouchi's deception should not affect Dai's
skating to Sonatina at all. Although Dai's team felt the need to make a statement.

-His ISU bio has been updated (composer's name removed): http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00004810.htm

-Kenji Miyamoto has updated his blog: http://ameblo.jp/kenjimiyamoto/entry-11765829104.html

-Its ghost writer/composer has had a press conference this afternoon: http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20140206-00000082-jij-ent
And he's referred to the music of Dai's Short Program as follows:

また、フィギュアスケート男子日本代表の高橋大輔選手がソチ五輪で、佐村河内さんが作ったとされた曲を使用することを挙げ、
このままでは彼と私のうそを強化する材料になってしまう。高橋選手が何も知らず、偽りの曲で演技したと世界中から非難が殺到するかもしれない
との懸念を感じたという、「高橋選手にはこの事実を知った上で堂々とオリンピックで戦ってほしいと思った」として、記者会見を開いた理由を説明した。

The way it sounds, from Mr Niigaki's (the composer) standpoint, it's okay the music to be used at the upcoming competition at least.

Gosh...his competitive skating career has been likened to 'rollercoaster' often, but no one did expect such one would come. At all. At this timing...Poor Daisuke.

Daisuke has arrived Sochi! :)
http://mainichi.jp/graph/2014/02/10/20140210k0000m050060000c/001.html Loved to see his smile that appeared natural, calm and relaxing.

Great news is that Dr Hara (surgeon who repaired his torn ligament in the right knee back in 2008, and also helped him a great deal when he re-injured it right before Grand Prix Final late 2013 and treated the injury healed enough to be able to compete at the Nats a month later) will be also in Sochi to support Dai throughout the competition! http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/olympic/2014/skate/20140209-OYT1T00218.htm

We all are cheering for you, Dai!!! :yay::party::party2:

Thank you so much for posting this - I really needed to see these again. 2010, especially made me so happy. Oh, I have so many emotions right now. Just watching him then and seeing how far he's come, and knowing everything that he has been through these last four years, but he made it back, and this is his last shot. This is his dream. I want it for him so badly. Just knowing that we are about to see his last competition... The Olympics are making me an emotional wreck :p

Truly, all I want is for Daisuke to skate his very best. I want him to skate with all the passion he had in La Strada, and make the audience fall in love with him, an audience of billions of people who almost never watch skating. If he wins, it will be a bonus. I just want him to go out there and skate his heart out - give it all he's got. As his fans, we will never forget him, but even if he doesn't win, I want him to skate with so much passion and spark that the rest of the world will remember as well. And I know he is capable. He can dazzle us.

Daisuke, go skate your heart out. You are absolutely astonishing; show it to the rest of the world. You have and will always have my support, and no matter what, you are the best in my eyes.

Forever and always, Daisuke <3 We love you

My thoughts exactly! No matter the outcome here (and I have a bad feeling) Daisuke will forever be Number 1 to me.
