Adelina's into to 2nd place, 56.57. Gracie's still in the lead...boy wouldn't it be something if she actually lives up to the hype and ends up winning this thing? But I shouldn't say that; Julia and Zijun still have to skate.
Yet another bad day at the office for Adelina. Didn't think she should go to these championships. Should have just focused on next season.
What jumps did she do? She won the PCS portion (duh) but she's about 4pts off Gracie's TES. Did she pop something or what? If she did pop or double a jump, she's in good shape seeing as she's only about 2pts out of first at the moment...
Wrote that OK, but some unconfident.Whoa! Adelina behind Gracie. Beat her on the PCS side, though. What did Adelina do jump wise?
Sotnikova has been in terrible form all season. Beating her doesn't take much. I wonder what Adelina messed up on this time. Will be interesting to see the protocols and the video.
She had two strong performances at nationals and ended up winning the title there. Then she had a really strong performance in the SP at the YOG, but ended up blanking out in the LP and doubled/popped a ton of jumps. She's hit a rough patch recently but I think she'll be okay. But like I said, only 2pts out of the lead right now...she's still within range. If Julia goes clean, however, the gold will probably be out of reach. She'll score like 63+ and the best Adelina will be able to hope for is silver...
Gracie has the most impressive jumps combining speed, height, and ice coverage (reminiscent of Yuna). She still has a long way to go in presentation, however, so hopefully she'll work on that aspect of her skating more going forward.
Maybe it was the angle of the video but Gracie didn't look exceptionally fast to me, nor did her jumps seem particularly high or cover a ton of ice...she looked rather average to me. Then again, it may just be the angle of the video. I'm also not too crazy about her air position; she's a little loose-looking in the air whereas Yu-Na had perfect air position...but she nails the rotation so it's not an issue.
In order for Gracie to really compete next year, she's definitely going to need a music/choreography/presentation overhaul. Her jumps are great but she's very far behind on the other side of her skating especially when you compare her to the other pre-Soichi skaters. She's a bit lopsided in that respect so I hope she and her team really get to work this summer.
