Good for Gracie for putting out a solid program but her jumps (sans the 2a) all looked a bit off. She was leaning on the landing of her 3-3 and lutz, but still clean. I hate that program though...I hope she ups her game next season and moves into more mature/substantial music and choreography. I'd expect to see a 12 year old skating to a Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies remix. :sarcasm: I think the program is what stopped her score from being in the 60s. Her presentation doesn't match up to Adelina's or Julia's so that's the hump she'll have to get over. Still, good performance for her first trip to junior worlds. That score should hold her up for a top 5 placement heading into the LP. If Julia, Adelina and Zijun Li go clean (w/ 3-3s) I'd think Gracie would be in 4th place. I'm pretty positive Julia will have her 3t-3t and if Adelina does her 3t-3t and goes cleanly those two will be neck and neck. Zijun Li has a 3f-3t and I really hope she brings it. Her SP is wonderful and if she lands her jumps she should score well.

Yet another bad day at the office for Adelina. Didn't think she should go to these championships. Should have just focused on next season.

Adelina's into to 2nd place, 56.57. Gracie's still in the lead...boy wouldn't it be something if she actually lives up to the hype and ends up winning this thing? But I shouldn't say that; Julia and Zijun still have to skate.

Sotnikova has been in terrible form all season. Beating her doesn't take much. I wonder what Adelina messed up on this time. Will be interesting to see the protocols and the video.

What jumps did she do? She won the PCS portion (duh) but she's about 4pts off Gracie's TES. Did she pop something or what? If she did pop or double a jump, she's in good shape seeing as she's only about 2pts out of first at the moment...

Apparently, she did a 3Tx3T, 3Z, and 2A. Rumour going around that the ccosp1 was the problem???

yes, I didn't really expect Adelina to win. she will be lucky to get bronze medal.
I am heartbroken for her this season, she has had to go through a confidence issue and a growth spurt :disapp:

I think it's rather presumptuous to assume that Adelina bombed when we haven't even seen the skate. Her TES is lower than Gold's but her base value is lower and she has a built in deduction because of her flutz. Clearly she beat her in the PCS and is only 1.5 points out of Gold's score, which is not a big margin.

She is not going to compete any better by staying at home.

Gracie at her best (not seen often unfortunately) has very impressive jumps combining speed, height, and ice coverage (reminiscent of Yuna). She still has a long way to go in presentation, however, so hopefully she'll work on that aspect of her skating more going forward.

She had two strong performances at nationals and ended up winning the title there. Then she had a really strong performance in the SP at the YOG, but ended up blanking out in the LP and doubled/popped a ton of jumps. She's hit a rough patch recently but I think she'll be okay. But like I said, only 2pts out of the lead right now...she's still within range. If Julia goes clean, however, the gold will probably be out of reach. She'll score like 63+ and the best Adelina will be able to hope for is silver...

don't forget Zijun Li.
I say Adelina's chances of a podium is still within reach buts she better not have a meltdown in the LP.
Polina S. puzzles me, she does well in GP but always has a meltdown at Junior Worlds, so does this mean she shouldn't be sent to senior worlds :disapp:

Maybe it was the angle of the video but Gracie didn't look exceptionally fast to me, nor did her jumps seem particularly high or cover a ton of ice...she looked rather average to me. Then again, it may just be the angle of the video. I'm also not too crazy about her air position; she's a little loose-looking in the air whereas Yu-Na had perfect air position...but she nails the rotation so it's not an issue.

In order for Gracie to really compete next year, she's definitely going to need a music/choreography/presentation overhaul. Her jumps are great but she's very far behind on the other side of her skating especially when you compare her to the other pre-Soichi skaters. She's a bit lopsided in that respect so I hope she and her team really get to work this summer.

Gracie looked slightly off her best. However, I think she put in a pretty good performance and she will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come.
