I believe it's when the russian skaters skate their programs in front of the powers to be and they asses your condition (whether the skater is fit to compete at upcoming championships) and give you feedback. Basically their monitoring your progress.

Makarova had a flu, didn't train for some time and had to skip Cup of Russia Final, so she will have test skates to see in what form she's now.

Considering Ksenia's sickness I doubt she is in a good shape, which means Polina's chances aren't bad. Her scores here are comparable to Korobeynikova's scores at Euros (who skated senior LP with spiral -> got higher TES). I hope Polina S will go to Worlds, she really needs this chance while Ksenia in her current condition isn't able to show decent result
