Wow, what a put down! If all the politics was removed from the sport and the fight was based solely on skaters' all-around talent and abilities and they fought it out on that basis during the season in order to gain a spot at Worlds (and not have to fight at their Nationals to win a spot), there would be quite a number of American guys participating and placing well at Worlds, with a lot of the lower-ranked guys here in Nice having to participate on a B or C circuit. JMHO. Yes, a lot of depth and talent is in Asia too, but it's not as if the U.S. has a lack of deep talent like you see in some other countries, including Canada. The next generation coming up in the U.S. is very strong and we shall see if they will have the quads and the confidence to go along with it. I think quads and CoP have ruined the sport, but that's just me.

What a lot of skaters need to do is step up to the plate when it counts and hit a base-clearing home run.

Adam is being interviewed on Universal Sports. Guess it is important for him to tell himself that he fought for it and he is excited for next year, etc, etc, but he doesn't seem to realize that he will have an even greater battle to get back to Worlds next year. Lots of U.S. guys are sitting at home chomping at the bit to beat both Adam and Jeremy next year at Nationals (not to mention the specter of Evan and Johnny maybe coming back). Adam and Jeremy are without a doubt two of our best guys right now, but sad to say, they did not get the job done. You have to skate clean at the very least. Last year two good but relatively unknown guys did that, but were dumped on. This year two guys with higher rep and experience didn't get the job done -- no 3 spots. They should at the least have accomplished that. How hard is it to at least land in 6 and 7 place? For God's sake, Jeremy is good enough to medal, but altho' he fought hard, it was not good enough.

Well, Amodio was pretty clean. Was that enough to podium?

The American men bombed, as I expected, but here's hoping Evan Lysacek comes back next season and shows them how it's done.

As for the rest of the competition my heart's just not in it, same with the ladies, knowing the Americans are just not good. This is one of the worst Worlds on record for them, even if Ashley skates a clean Black Swan program.

Alas, Nationals is so much better, more exciting and rewarding.

Florent skated well, but I really hope that doesn't beat Yuzuru in the LP or in PCS.

Now Amodio gives the crowd some red meat. Very good job - can't deny his talent and intensity even if you don't care for his artistic choices. A bit too much posing, but hey, he's French. Bravo!
