    end of the Chinese streak of 13 years with medals in pairs 1999-2011 5G - 7S - 4B (+ 1G,2S,2B in olympics)

Notice that these 7 countries and China are exactly the 8 countries who had finalist in the pair competition (top16)!
and all these countries but Italy won at least 1 medal in pairs between Nice2000 - Nice 2012)
(last time that another country (outside the top 8 country) won medals in Pairs was POL with Shudeks in 1999)

First medal for Japon in non-single event

in dance best couple outside these 7+1 countries is GBR at 14th
Chinese in 12th is the best for Asian in dance (after Reeds 13th place last year)

ETA just verifiing ( Stergiadu/ Razgulaev for Uzbekistan 10th in 1993 and 11th in 1994 is actually the best asian place in dance)

in ladies Gedevanishvili who finished at 10 is the best outside the top 7+1 countries
End of the Asian 5 year streak of gold + medal, only 1 bronze, still there's a Japanese on the podium 7 years n a row
Two European in 1 and 2 - the last time that happen was in 1993 with Baiul and Bonaly
if the European ladies progress we have the First men podium without an European since 1959! (after the first dance podium ever without european last year)
First time 2 Japanese in the men podium

Brezhina for CZE is 6th, then KAZ in 7th, ESP in 9th, actually there are 6 male skaters in top 20 outside the best 8 countres

it's clear for the team competition in Sochi these 8 counties will be easily qualified, I guess Czech R will be the 9th qualifier and the GBR will be the 10th
