In the event website there's lots of really interesting articles about participating teams and synchro skating in general.
This event will be super exciting. Sweden's own number one team Team Surprise is 5(?) time world champion, but has missed the podium for I think 3 seasons in a row. Last year they were 3rd in the Free program, but finished 4th overall. Last time the World Championships were in Sweden they won, so I'd think their goal is to glimp back to the top in front of their home audience. Their free program (Moulin Rouge) looks really strong.
The two finnish teams, Marigold IceUnity (Finland 1, 2nd last season) and Rockettes (Finland 2, reigning world champions) have set their goals high too, both want to be champions again. Both are 3 time world champions already. ROckettes' season hasn't gone so well, but they came back strong for finnish nationals which they won. Marigold's season started really stong and they won both finnish qualifying events and their first international event in Salzburg, but lost to 3rd finnish team, Team Unique in Rouen, France.
USA's Haydenettes have been 3rd two seasons in a row. Their coach Saga Kranz is form Finland. They have had some technical difficulties this season, but I think they will be stronger than ever this year. They are skating to Lady Gaga for their free program.
Canadas Nexxice is really strong team too! They won the Championship 2008, but have missed the podium since then. They won Rockettes and Haydenettes in international competition held in Canada in december, but lost to both finnish teams in Salzburg in January.
Synchro fans have been waiting the coming of russians for many years now, they have been technically really good skaters, but when the skaters are put together, they really haven't got their act together, unfortunately. This year, their free program is really good (they too are skating to moulin rouge) but the program had many technical mistakes. I hope they have fixed them for worlds. I think they have shot for top 5 if they have. They were 7th last year.
I think that for top 10 the other competitors will be Canadas 2nd team, Les Supremes, Sweden's 2nd team Team Boomerang, Germany's Team Berlin 1 and USA's 2nd team the Chrystallettes.

I'll have to go hunt through the website, for sure. I'm still recovering from Worlds
