I figured that was the music they'd use... but I honestly don't see the Polka so much as the jig... are they considered the same?

No, they aren't the same, and R&K got heavily penalized for producing a polka to a hoedown back in 1991/1992.
However, these days you can fool around with the music with an editing program and in the end, it could magically be a polka.

You'd start by getting 2/4 time and the correct number of beats per minute. Then you'd attack the bagpipes!

When I went to Youtube to hear their music, the label on the piece states that it is titled "John Ryan's Polka" so it must fit.

I'm sad to hear Verner is using Dracula--not because it isn't a good choice, but because the owners of the soundtrack have youtube videos which use it taken down as a way of enforcing their copyright. That will limit options to rewatch it.

LP The Untouchables (soundtrack) by Ennio Morricone (new arrangement)
Epica is a Dutch symphonic metal band, and they are doing their version of Edvard Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King.
The only US man on the GP who hasn't posted an IN bio update is Jeremy Abbott. Most of these have been reported here already. However, there is one change:

I kind like the idea. Epica is a very decent band and I like their version of In the Hall of the Mountain King. I wish more skaters could pick up songs from bands such as Epica, Nightwish and Therion. It would be a great way of working with music that can be classical and have a modern approach to it cause those bands have some great songs (not all but at least some
)Thanks for the updates, once again, Doris. Does this mean there is still a chance that Abbot might continue to use his Muse LP - I know lot's of people hate to see recycled programs, and I tend to feel more impressed by skaters who get new programs every year, BUT...I really loved that LP and would love to seem it again, even if just as exhibition.

Who knows what it means? It means to me that Abbott could be skating to absolutely anything, including last year's program, although generally when people keep a previous year's program, you hear about it very early on.
As long as he doesn't skate to The Artist soundtrack, I'll be happy. The Artist appears to be this year's Requiem For a Dream; lots of people are using it in all 4 disciplines.

Thanks, Colleen! I knew you would have watched O&W live. B&K did High Society one year, AFAIR. How did O&W's compare (since ustream didn't archive it and it is nowhere to be found

doris.. Gee , I wouldn't know how to begin to compare the 2 "High Society"s..Two couples at two different stages of their careers, so Shae & Vic display more polish ,in a way , right off the bat ..but apart from the opening introduction , the music didn't have much to do with the movie, ( of course, they tried to make Shae look Grace Kelly-ish ) ... I liked their Opus One finish a lot.
O/W..Dang! I want to see it again , it's hard to tell a lot from one viewing .. but if memory serves ..I thought it moved well from section to section..Opens with an orchestral "Sensational" .. nice and sweepy, and the music throughout is definitely recognizable, ..I thought their lifts looked good.. some nice styling in the footworky bits in the jazzy parts ..Twizzles looked good to me ..I do think Thomas is catching up nicely..better extensions , not so much breaking at the hip, more fluid upper body..Nice peppy finish to Who Wants to be a Millionaire ..costumes work without being specific. ( OK by me ) Quite a lot of silky skirt that just whooshes for Nicole ..Thomas' grey formal vest and fancy blue tie , very becoming..yep, nice general society wedding party look..
