Friend can't afford her rheumatoid arthritis medicine and she is suffering
A friend of mine has bad rheumatoid arthritis and was on a grant program that ran out. It's too expensive for her to buy and it's not available in Canada (going there was plan #1). She is in such bad pain and it was the only med that worked on her.
Enbrel is the name of the drug she was using.
She was working and loves to work, but now she will be disabled because of the pain.
How sad that this is how it is in America.

Two things that sometimes work:
1. Have her ask her doctor if he has any samples; some doctors will give out samples they got from drug reps, especially if those samples will expire in a month or 2.
2. Amgen has a program called AmgenAssist that helps people who can't pay for their drugs. The link is here:
I don't know what it takes to qualify for the plan, but I know Pfizer's similar plans work well.
It's always worth a shot to contact the manufacturer about help to pay for a new and pricy drug.
