    Team standing

    1. Japan (12+7+12+7+10+7) = 55
    2. USA (8+6+10+8+9+12) = 53
    3. Canada (11+5+3+1+11+11) = 42
    4. France (10+9+4+2+7+10) = 42
    5. Russia (3+1+9+6+12+8) = 39
    6. Italy (4+2+11+5+8+9) = 39

Japan won despite finishing last in ice dance. USA was a close 2nd.

Canada and France tied, but Canada won the tie-breaker. Both teams were hampered by their ladies.

Russia and Italy tied, but Russia won tie-breaker. Winning pairs and ladies moving up was crucial, because their men were dismal.

Japan will be in trouble in Sochi at the team event. They will have no Pairs team and a last place Ice Dancing team. The US had a better all around team actually no team or skater finished near the bottom. The Men just didn't get it done which was the difference.

I think USA will win world team trophy next year with (johnny weir and evan comming back) and have a good chance for gold in sochi, Russia and Canada will have a good chance if Plushenko and Joannie comes back, I think China will have a good chance of qualifing next year so Italy or France might not make it.

Evan without a quad is not going to be a factor but at least he has the nerves to compete unlike Jeremy and Johnny well he hasn't been a contenders in years. Time for the Juniors to kick some butt and move the old guys out of the way if they can't get it done.

Japan won't qualify because they don't have an eligible pair for Sochi. China would be next in line. After them it's a bunch of teams with three of the four disciplines.

Apparently, there is now a push to get Mervin Tran his Japanese citizenship. The language requirements have been waved for sumo wrestlers before, for example, so it wouldn't be the first time that sport has changed immigration policy, even in Japan.

Wait...the U.S. came in second? Wow! How'd we do that? I wasn't even paying attention to our folks, because I was sure we were so weak. Wow! Shame on me. Good show, U.S.A.!

As for Mervin's intention to give it a try for Japanese citizenship, I appreciate it very much none of you would call your countryman an idiot.

I would imagine it's already been too big and hardest a decision to make for Mervin and his family. To be criticized by his home people will only add more pains in his and his family's heart...
