I am surprised that SC didn't send another lady with the competition being in the US. So there is one lost placement so far this year. I am sure we could have filled the spot with Osmond, Charbonneau, or Desanctis. I didn;t include Najarro who has struggled so much internationally. Will be interesting to see what SC does with the remaining 3 Senior B's - Nebelhorn, Finlandia, Ondrej Nepela (Listed on SC website).

With all the summer comps practically completed, and JGP and Senior B about to start, who do you think are the ladies leading the way. Has Osmond shown that last year was not a one time skate? Is she the front runner right now to win nationals? Lacoste hasn't done a short program in competition yet an looks like first time will be at US Senior B. Is this a good decision? Seguin, Daleman, and Chartrand received the first 3 JGP. Seem to be good selections if they can hold the nerves together. Najarro hasn't competed this year. Is she injured? Phaneuf was injured. Anyone know if she is back on ice? And rounding out national team is Desanctis. She skated at Detroit and lost to Daleman at Thornhill. Will we see her move up this year or will she begin to fade? And finally Samson. She looked like she was having problems at Quebec Summerskate. Can she return to form?

I heard through the grapevine DeSanctis cut her hand badly during her LP..I don't know which element caused this but i'm assuming it was during her layback..I know someone in attendance watcthing and said there was blood on her hand, arm, tights...so I don't know the extent of her injury. This probably affected her performance..Any info?

Kaetlyn Osmond is the only lady assigned to Nebelhorn.

kaetlyn Osmond to Nebelhorn? I'm a little surprised. Is SC sending anyone to the other two Senior B competitions? Is this a way for Kaetlyn to acrue more points? Will SC send another lady to Skate Canada? Any info to clarify?

Hi Mariposa, not totally sure what SC are doing. The entry list for the Ondrej Nepela Trophy are listed on their website. No ladies or pairs there from Canada. Any International competition for our ladies would be beneficial. SC left a spot open at SLC Senior B. Last year only V/M went to Finlandia. I know SC could only send 1 to Nebelhorn. I assume Osmonds assignment is to get on the Senior International scene before SCI in October. But SC could have sent a second to SLC. Perhaps they are thinking they have to send Amelie to a Senior B before SCI, but are really concentrating on the younger skaters. Perhaps they have lost hope in Najarro, Charbonneau, and Grenier. Perhaps they didn't want Osmond and Lacoste to go head to head at SLC before SCI. Seems like they are fixed on a couple of Seniors.

I think this hits the mark on what SC is doing. I think SC is focusing on the likes of Osmond with skaters on the JGP being the next ones.

Najarro had knee surgery so is likely not to be ready this year. I am sure SC would also be wary of her poor international history.

Charbonneau has not skated well this summer.

Grenier did scored high enough to meet the minimum score by SC standards in Quebec but a close look at the protocols shows her only clean triple was the salchow. She also has a history of collapsing internationally ( struggled at all her JGPs and failed to make it out of qualifying at JW ).

I would not be surprised if one or more of Daleman , Seguin or Chartrand make the national team or even podium.

Not sure what Seguin will do. She is not forced to go Senior. I am thinking she will complete this season as a Junior.

Seguin had a decent start for her first JGP. But did anyone else think she was slow? Especially spins. But decent start and good luck in long today

It has been very quiet regarding Phaneuf. Be interesting to see if she is at the SC High Performance Camp next weekend

I believe you've posted this before elsewhere and I don't know why - she and her parents have no ties to Canada, as far as I know.

Kate has had some good performances in summer competitions - 91.63 in final round FS at Skate Detroit in late July and 49 something in her SP at Minnesota State Championships earlier this month. She has two programs choreographed by Tom Dickson and I think she is skating more expressively to the music this season, from what I've seen.
