It looks like I will be going to Skate America! I am thrilled about it. I didn't think it would be possible (and it may yet not happen).

Buying my ticket ASAP - where would you guys recommend that I choose my seat? Which side are the judges on?
I don't think tickets on the judges' side are for sale for the competition...
Why not? Is it because those are the best seats and already sold out?
No, I don't know why, the judges' side is always empty.. I think it's reserved for skaters, officials, VIP?

The entire trip is going to cost me around 400 dollars including housing and flights - it's the best chance I'll ever have to see this much skating at this quality!
Generally speaking, in major competitions, at least 10 rows of seats behind the judges are blocked out except for the camera. Behind that, only ISU officials/ test judges are usually allowed in what rows are left behind the section where the judges sit. (The ISU doesn't want anyone to be able to "read" how the judges vote on their computers.)
Macassar88, I hope you will tell us all about it! Reports from people that really saw the competition are the best!
