Wow. Wow, wow, wow, WOW! I am still in awe. I think this is the strongest performance of both the SD and FD so far this season.

"Fix You" is my favorite ShibSibs program, but "Evolution" is suddenly a very close second! Last year it was all about that song: the building music and uplifting lyrics, Alex and Maia's story, carrying them (and us) along for the journey. This season we don't having soaring music and words, but instead serenity and quiet, the story all resting completely on what Maia and Alex lay down on the ice. And here they told me a powerful story -- a celebration of their partnership -- as THEY swept me along into their beautiful, emotional skate. By the end I was breathless.

Thank you, Maia and Alex.
:agree: I thought of the program as not only showing their skating partnership but also their bond as siblings. I felt they were really into the FD emotionally this time. They showed their love of skating and their love of each other. A couple of the camera angles were strange choices, but I'll deal with that to watch this FD over and over again!!!  Hopefully Worlds is even better!!! I enjoyed the FD at Nationals, but there were little errors and Maia and Alex seemed so tense. 4CC didn't have any of that. Congrats to Maia and Alex!!! :hap10:

Looking at all the new postings that have come up since Chapis so generously posted all those links, I was thinking that if Alex and Maia worked on their Japanese and learned Korean, I'd bet somebody would ask them to star in a drama of some sort. They have the personalities and looks that many Asian stars have. As for their lack of acting experience, that doesn't stop "idols" from being cast in those shows. Their accent may be an issue though.

Had no idea there was an SNL Korea!

Yes! It's on one of the cable channels (rather than one of the big three networks, like it is in the US). The cast is an interesting mix. In the past there has been a few Korean-Americans comedians and idol stars (like Jay Park, who is a hip-hop artist that hails from Edmunds, Wash., pretty much the same area as Jean-Luc Baker!) and some well-known figures in the Korean comedy scene.

Here are the Chloe Moritz SNL clips (basically it's about how she bases her understanding of Korean culture/language on K-dramas, lol):

Precisely I was thingking yesterday, not about acting but I confirmed that if they were korean or japanese, they would be rich and famous so easy, they have everythig, looks, personalty and they are not afraid or shy about the spotlight. They could be so famous like Yuzu or Mao, I always lamented that they did not switch countries :( , no offense, I just think like that because it would be great to have more articles, pictures, videos and stuff like the japanese skaters have.

Yeah, Alex and Maia would be very appropriated in Asia. My gay friend loves Alex. And my girl friend love Maia.

As an Asian-American, I'm happy Maia and Alex are American as they're doing such a great job adding more representation of Asian-Americans by just being themselves and skating well. I also really appreciate that they both recognize and have been public about the need for diverse representation and have done their part in showcasing other Asian-American talent, like Wong Fu Productions, Quest Crew, Dante Basco, etc.

You've expressed my thoughts exactly! I've been very impressed by the classy and subtle way they've gone about promoting Asian-Americans in arts & entertainment. It kind of mirrors their approach to skating, and says a lot about them as people.

In my opinion, their best presentation of this program. Honestly, the whole season the exhibition just seemed nice and different for me, I thought that they had not practiced it enough or were forcing themselves in a style that did not fit them, , or something was missing, but this time the performance totally caught me. Especially Alex, you know, there are people who say that he looks like a boy or does not project enough maturity in his programs, well, here clearly we can see that his skating can be very mature, he is using his whole body to express himself very well, and his facial expressions added much to the performance. Already having watched the 3 programs of this season I think that this is the style that suits him the best, in which he stands out. I think they should to try a competitive programa like this one, unfortunately, I am not buying to Maia completely yet. Perhaps in this program I am noticing the age difference between them, I did not think to say it right now because for everyone it is clear how much Maia has grown up as a skater, but in this program specifically she looks like a little girl compared to him, maybe if this were a competitive program she would make a greater effort, I no longer doubt her potential. This style seems natural to him.

And I'm still amazed that the fans did a better job than the professional cameramen.
