Israeli skating group protests new world standards

(JTA) -- Israel's Ice Skating Federation protested new and tougher International Skating Union qualifying standards for world championships, saying they unfairly discriminate against countries not in the top skating tier.

While I get that in this economy that cost cutting has to happen, making it more of an elitist sport is probably not the way to go. That being said I do not have the answer.

If the decision came only from the purpose to cut off the budget, they should find a different way to do so, as Mr. Chait said.
