Great choices! May I add Midori Ito's free skate @ the 1988 Calgary Olympics?

I thought the showdown between Michelle and Lulu at the '96 Wolrds was quite memorable.

After all these years I still can't decide who should have won.
This is only made harder since I love both skaters.

If ever there was a competition that deserved two Gold medals this was it.

Mao Asada

2010 worlds :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsCZCM8AKCU the whole performance was pure perfection, and for me this was mind bobling how her determination to land the all her axel made her succed, and this really shows why she is special skater

this was one of the biggest highlights of the 2010 olympics, I know that i have already described Mao's 2010 worlds as perfection but add this to the resume, cause this is pure perfection, she does every element with such easy and naturally, as if she was born to skate!

where should i begin, the comeback after that fall was soo unreal, the unbelievable technical content, her humble reaction after the placement

one of thé most fantastic short program in figure skating history, it'simply sooo beautiful and spellbounding that i can't find all the words that would make this program justice!

Every great skate of last 15 years is covered it seems. I would only add Kerrigans's flawless 1994 Oly silver (worth gold). And Oksana Baiul's Olympic SP. Also Lu Chen's moving bronze at 1998 Olympics if not already mentioned. And Tara was golden in Nagano. Even Frank told MK to be cool as Tara skated better that night. I think the vodka would have been useless but hey, fun idea...is that how it worked back then? wasted. Two wonderful entirely different skaters. MK had a freedom/best program of her life. It would be 2004 before she skated with such conviction to Tosca. 6 years apart, and like two different people, it was great she stayed in so long to grow from a bean to a powerhouse fierce skater. Still love tara too.

2 skates for the ages!

I would give them both gold medals!

Lu Chen would get 5.8, 6.0 from me.
Michelle Kwan 5.9 and 6.0 from me.

It came down to the 7th triple triple over Chen's 6!

The definition of Greatest is that there can only be one.

So I ask myself what clips I can show anyone in a few minutes why figure skating is a beautiful, challenging and spectacular sport.

I can only think of one performance in ladies figure skating history that does that unconditionally.

Yuna Kim's Olympic Gershwin Skate. It was as close to perfection as there ever had been on the world biggest stage, occasion, with the greatest risks and personal milestone on the line. It was a moment where I thought wow, who is she, and how can she do the impossible? Perfection are suppose to be unattainable, yet some how here it is.

The Lyra at 1998 Nationals is the one I also would choose, christinaskater, but on the other hand, how can one choose a single greatest moment in a sport like skating? In long jumping, Bob Beamon's unprecedented record in the 1968 Olympics is clearly the greatest jump ever (a record that it took decades to break), but skating is by its nature impossible to quantify, or at least it is for me.

So I'll add another Michelle program; here she's skating Song of the Black Swan at Worlds. There are even two of those! The qualifying round and the long program were both extraordinary.

Here's the qualifying round:

The singular greatest would be Lyra Angelica from US Nationals by Michelle Kwan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bD79OnA2OE

This would be among the top 3. I wish she has done this at the Olympics! I have always thought it is uncanny how much Yuna's debut FS Lark Ascending costume is similar to Michelle's costume here, a Chinese article also mentioned this years ago of who Yuna reminded her of. That and the purity of their skating presence.

^ I noticed Laura winning Euros on your list and that was a very nice moment.

Here is another special moment from the Euro championships:

If this is not one of the greatest moments......... it was certainly one of the best and nicest moments.

Madge Syers nearly beating the men. Without her, there might not be a ladies division.

Theresa Weld landing the first salchow--then being chastised for it.

Sonja Henie landing the first axel, then Carol landing the first double, then Midori landing the first triple.
