Then that alone is enough to get me to stop bothering Nam. Cool that he made the switch. If only Reynolds would the same.
Nam has grown considerably! His body is looking grown up and his moves resemble Patrick's, very mature and sophisticated for his age. He will probably never be very tall and he needs more power and speed, but he doesn't look like a little boy any more. I looked up his ISU bio and he's now listed as 156 cm, about 5 ft 1.5 in., up from 150 cm or 4 ft 11 in, the last height I knew.
His SP score was brought down by the total miss of the combo, listed as 1T + combo. I think he is dealing with his growth very well and will be one of the top Junior Men when he does all his jumps in later competitions, which I'm sure he will, including 3A. I think his PCS is under-marked, likely affected by the missed jumps and low TES and by the slower speed due to his size. Excellent performance from a 14 year old showman.![]()

Jason' updated his blog, discussing his & Harrison Choate's SP and other Courchevel stuff

But his other jumps are fine (sort of mystified by that Lutz edge call). It doesn't make much sense to me to overhaul your coaching because of one jump. Ade obviously has done a good job everywhere else, so I think he's better off perhaps doing some work with a specialist in addition to Ade.
Who is overhyping Jason now? Nobody here is denying that he needs a 3A. I don't either. But does that mean people can't note the fact that his program (despite the mistakes) has potential? Or that judges though well of the program itself giving it the highest PCS?
I will repeat, I agree Jason will not get anywhere in the long run if he doesn't have a 3A. But at the junior level he is doing fine. In fact, isn't it interesting that he practically screwed up two of his spins, had a step out and still managed to be in podium contention?
