another lost PCS marks from unlucky draw by Davankova/Deputat
I hope they make ground for LP, why do they always get unlucky draws

Why are 4 US pair teams competing? Isn't that unusual? I thought 3 per country was the maximum.
Except in pairs. Host nations get unlimited entrants into pairs.
For the JGP the U.S. earned 3 slots for each event and then an extra host slot. This is allowed under the JGP provisions.
ISU JGP videos are up! I saw Davankova and Deputat's program and I was underwhelmed. There is still a lot that they need to work on. His technique on the throws still irks me. He spends a lot of time setting up and then he crouches. I also didn't really like the music (godfather) and the program didn't do much for me. I hope their free skate is better.
Some other small details to work on like their entry into the double axels is off.
Here's the scores:

While it wasn't a great program, I thought mD/D were hosed on PCS. Glad they're in first regardless, and I fully expect that we'll see in the LP them emerge first PCS wise as well.
yeah but its an improvement, if you notice he didn't stop that much compared to junior worlds when doing the throw/throws faster now too

I do think hey lost some PCS marks, they started 1st in the order draw and while this isn't really great SP ( Morozov program ? ) this was also their new SP so give it time maybe next competition if we see further improvements in their skating, they are aware they are more of the technical skaters.

It is their first start of season, after Vasilisa's growing at summer. So she must learn all more, Andrei must learn to make pair elements with Vasilisa who became more tall and and with bigger weight and so on.
They, I believe, will better at season.
Vasilisa now grows from child to pretty young woman. It has advantages and disadvantages.

yes, Davankova grew so much !!
I hope she doesn't grow as much anymore maybe just a max 1.5 or 2 more inches, I think Andrei is still growing too a bit.
because it will be hard if you almost have the same height in pairs with some exceptions, the lifting positions will be the problems.
I also loved Gainetdinova/Bich minus the music, their throws always looks so light
shame about the aborted lift mistake, hope they do well in LP

It is unfortunate how much trouble the junior pairs are having with the back outside death spiral.
Here's the Junior Pairs playlist for the SP

Here's the protocols:

So many teams getting no points for thing
kudos to Davankova & Deputat; nothing below a level 3
Purdy & Marinaro; level 1 on the step sequence and Basic level on the death spiral (this is a new level 0); there are now 5 levels for skills
Denney & Frazier; no credit at all for the death spiral and level one for the step
Aaron & Settlage: no credit at all for the combination spin; level one for the step, level one for the death spiral
Pfund & Reiss: no credit for the death spiral; a -1 time violation
Kuklina & Petukhov: Basic level for the death spiral, level 1 for the step
Prölss & Blommaert: Basic level for the death spiral. -1 for a fall (They had the second highest completed tech level here)
Gainetdinova & Bich: no credit for the death spiral
Oltmanns & Santillan: Basic level for the death spiral, singled the axel, level 1 for the spin
Desjardins & Bilodeau: level 1 on the step and -1 for a fall
Rau & Simpson: underrotated on the double flip, no credit for the death spiral, level one on the double twist
Foresti & Sforza: -1 for the fall, no credit for the death spiral, level 1 for the double twist
Lavrentieva & Rudik: -1 for the fall, no credit for the death spiral, level 1 for the double twist, level1 for the step.
Smyth & Dodds: Basic level for the double twist, no credit for the death spiral, only did a throw double salchow, Basic level for the lift, level 1 for the step.
thanks doris
panels were indeed harsh on pairs here... I think they got a bit greedy, LOL
at least she is still landing her jumps, hopefully doesn't affect a lot of other things
I hope they will both adjust soon to their new heights and programs because it will be such a waste.
good luck to all in LP![]()
