Both Lazukin and Efremenkov are not very stable. Difference between best and worst scores past season were more than 40. 155 in one competition, 185 in another, for example.

Chen means business, 75.15 and over 43 in tech, holy cow! This kid just turned 13 and is not even 5 ft tall, but looking at his scores, he must have nailed 3-3 and 3a! PCS certainly impressive for one so young and new to the scene as well. 14 point lead!

Wow! That was impressive. I am amazed at how much ice coverage he has for such a tiny guy. Also, I loved that he put his last two jumping passes later in the program (not to mention that racks him an extra 1.63 to his base value). That step sequence in the middle of the program is a beaut!

Also looking at the protocols, he only got one negative GOE from just one judge, with the triple flip (-1). Otherwise lots of +1 and +2! Great job!

ETA: That 75 score would put Nathan Chen on the top for the SP among the US men (and I think for the overall JGP field thus far):

Nathan is just awesome. His ballet training has done him a world of good and is incredibly apparent in his skating, his posture and overall carriage are exceptional for a 13 year old by. And oh my goodness his ice coverage has improved so much, not to mention his speed and maturity. The 3a definitely gets a lot of pop and rotation does not seem to be an issue for him and that footwork was amazing! He really has stepped it up and is showing that despite his age and size, he can keep up with the big guys and skate like one. That was a really mature performance, while still managing to be age appropriate. Can't wait to see his FS!

Must be since Nathan landed a 3A on the first try for the first time under real PRESSURE!! Unless sky_fly20 is implying the size of Nathan's jumps. As a comparative to his size, they are quite large but compared to an almost fully grown 17 year old, they're "small".

Ah, the ballet training does explain a lot of things. His toe point -- something that I don't think about with guys -- was definitely noticeable!
