Barbie Long USA
Pink Panther Theme by Henry Mancini 52.24
Opens with a nice spin
3Lz3T (may be called UR on the 3T)
A Rachael Flatt style flat back catchfoot camel. No better looking from Barbie than for Rachael.
I really like the split jump and skippy footwork into the 3F, but she double footed the jump.
Really nice spread eagle into a 2A at the end of the program; spin to end
A saucy, fun number for her, and a great international debut!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BedNoZWM6j4&feature=plcp

If she does get a UR on the 3T, I think it would be a bit harsh -- that jump was pretty clean from what I could see. It looked a lot better than Leah K's. I'm hoping the lost points are from the two foot for the 3F and perhaps lost levels for the camel spin -- it seem she ended it before doing the required number of revolutions.

That said, I really like this program for her! I think she definitely has a more mature packaging here then she did for her SP last year. I'm surprised her PCS was lower than Hae-Jin's. I guess that whole newbie thing.

Hicks is 6th, TES less than Shershak with no deduction.
1Lo+2T - it is the answer.

Anna Shershak RUS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIkvQfG_14A&feature=plcp
Starts with 4 bells & cannons (Bells of Moscow?)
3T3T, fell on the second jump
beautiful spread eagle into double axel
2F late in the program
Good speed throughout, and nice spins.
Dramatic program, with cannon fire & bells.
Is this some part of the 1812 overture? I don't know any other piece with cannonfire & bells, but this isn't the piece I usually hear at 4th of July?

Thankfully I was right about Barbie Long's score -- low level on the camel spin and major deductions on the 3F (though I question the edge call..). Happy to see the 3Z-3T ratified with positive GOE!

Her BV was actually higher than Hae-Jin's but the -GOE on the 3F ultimately cost her the lead for this segment of the competition. I think she is capable of making up the deficit (it's about a point) in the FS.

ETA: Have they officially named the team for JGP #7? If she does well in the FS, I think Barbie has a case for getting another assignment over Samantha Cesario, though it will be a tough choice as I think they'll end up scoring pretty close to each other. I believe Angela Wang and Hannah Miller are locked in for JGP Croatia, yes?

http://www.usfsa.org/Athletes.asp?id=216 - nothing is solved for JGP #6 and #7.
Solution will be after Ladies FS (and also for Men after Men FS and for Dance after Dance FD).
Now the main at #6 are Miller (place 2 Linz) and Wang (place 3 Lake Placid with extremely good FS). I believe - they will not be substituted.
The main at #7 are Keiser (place 1 Istanbul, so she will not be substituted) and Cesario (place 3 Linz) - she may be substituted by Long if she earn place 1 or 2.

Also we must remember that #6 is so close to #5, that it is no sense to return to USA and it is very hard - two so close starts.
So it is not good to send Long to #6 in any circumstance.

Hae Jin Kim KOR 53.64
Lyrical beginning to La Boheme by Puccini. Huge telegraph of 3T3t, first jump landed pitched forward. 3F out of footwork good. Unhappy habit of letting her foot dangle off her ankle like a limp sausage. And a habit of pitching forward a tad on landings, so they don't flow as they could. Adequately fast, but unoriginal spins. However, most of the program was very nicely to the music. All in all, a musically satisfying skate for me.

La Boheme which she is skating to is not Puccini's. It was a song performed by French singer Charles Aznavour, not the opera.

Rather disappointing for Miu Sato as well -- she came in 5th at Japanese Nationals last year and actually skated an excellent LP at Junior Worlds last year; I thought she was severely undermarked there.

Miu SATO had a rough SP at JW 2012: she fell on the first 3t and couldn't complete the combo. She started at #8 in the FS; the judges tend to lowball the PCS scores in the first two groups for the FS. That's where she took the hit: 39.89. She was 12th in the FS overall: 7th in TES, but 14th in PCS.

I'm really glad that the US has Barbie Long as a rising talent. I really enjoy watching her skate (Courtney Hick's you can take some pointers). I know Pink Panther has that sultry feel to it, but Barbie really knows how to use her shoulders, but fix the camel spin!

Hinano Isobe seems like the Japanese Vanessa Lam. Dynamic but can't leave the ice for more than 6 inches.

Where did this french lady come from? I really enjoyed her program too. She has great SS but just needs to fix some jump technique.

I don't like Gerasimova's program, and Shershark looks like a woman now (or closer to Gedevanishvili XD)

Miu Sato is wonderful. Too bad about her jump mistakes but I really liked her everything else. She reminds me of Miki Ando with better SS at that age. She's probably my favorite Japanese junior. Loved her dress too!

Finally, another person who skates to Joe Hisaishi. Xiawen Guo needs to work on deeper edges but oddly didn't effect her step sequence that much.
