Barbie Long's score seems low to me. She made a few mistakes (SO on 3Z-3T combo, badly executed combo at the end) but I think it should've been enough to break 100.

2A-3T
3Z-3T
3S
3L
3F
3Z
2A-1T-1T

In any case, she should be proud of her debut here -- she did her hard combos and i think the goal is to start well, and I feel she did that here.

Congratulations to the medalists. Good debut from Barbie Long who was just 0.11 behind the winner, Hae Jin Kim. Disappointing from Courtney (12.39 down on her Lake Placid score of 153.77), but its only her second international competition back from injury.

I'm happy for HJ, this is the first gold medal in the JGP circuit since Yu-Na in 2005 for korea! Another great debut from the Americans and another medal for Russia... I think the placements are correct, what I don't understand is SHershak's PCS: her program had the best choreography, it was the most mature in this competition, I think the judges gave her low marks because of the easiness of her jumps and this is really not fair!

Looking at the protocols -- happy to see that Barbie got both her hard combos ratified (though slight -GOE for hte SO on the 3Z-3T). She lost points mainly from the 3F (edge call+UR), the UR 3S and the low level step sequence.

If she simply got the base value on those -- along with the 3Z-3T, where she got -GOE -- she would have gained another 7 points or so.

I think when Barbie gets home the next goal is refinement, me thinks -- make sure that flip isn't lipped, work on improving the hard combos for that +GOE. In any case, she should feel great about her effort here!

Too bad about Courtney -- but she did end up getting 3rd in the FS and had her 3F-3T ratified with positive GOE.

it's going to be an interesting competition in the U.S. for those juinior world slots!
