I am watching this beautiful and an all time favorite program of mine again and always touches me and moves me. The same kind of feeling I have for Mao when I watch her give life to a piece of music.

Josh reminds me so much of Mao, a ballerina on ice. Very lyrical and circular and ARTISTRY at its finest.

@gotoschool i messaged you! :)

Maybe I already posted this, but here is Mao sponsoring Young Japan Action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMrYH69zAfQ

and another picture of Mao planting a tree with volunteers who renovate old houses and turn them into guest houses for students.

I found this in a post by rosewood # 631 at the following address: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...say-figure-skating-is-wonderful.89260/page-22

Good to know she's helping people, but I sure do miss her competitive skating.

Thank you for the links gotoschool.

"I learned lots of young people in my generation come and support affected people in various ways. It inspired me to do my best for supports. I wish our movements as 'YOUNG JAPAN ACTION' will give inspirations to people, and more young people will join us to encourage this country," said Asada.

That’s great.
I wonder and am curious, from her statement, what kind of experience would have a great influence on her thinking about her future skating carrier
through the action that could have the capacity to change her mind in a positive way :)

Your welcome yhma fan. I don't know what would persuade Mao to return to competitive skating, but I found this article at fsuniverse in which Mao gave her answer to the question of what she could do to help the people suffering from the tragic earthquake.

Mao: At the point of the disaster I asked myself "What can I do?". The answer was "I can skate" "My heart can touch people through my skating." I've been skating with a hope to encourage people as much as possible and let people forget about the difficulties during my skates.

The whole post can be found at: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...say-figure-skating-is-wonderful.89260/page-22 post number 633

The reason Mao's skating means so much to me is what she expresses so well in her answer. She touches me because of the beauty of her skating and because she provides hope and encouragement that helps me forget about life's difficulties. I feel like she is living through the hardships and overcoming them through her profound expression and the athletic challenges in her performances.

I think so really, I am sure she has a lot of power to encourage people and would make their faces smile through her skating and probably that is the best way to do that as being one of the influential athletes in their own country :yay:

On the other hand, Sometimes we fans(mostly Yuzuru fans) in Japan talk about it, because seeing him to be serious and is being urged when it comes to the tragic is that let us to think about it even more like it may be an issue to force our skaters to shoulder a heavy burden even if it is part of his hope (though it is understandable as himself to be one of the victims and that happened in his hometown.)
But still people(also Yuzuru himself) should know that they are an athlete afterall not a superman or something.

But then again, as Mao does for them, it would be great to help people the way as much as they can so long as it does not interfere with their works :cheer:

Thanks a lot for the link yhma fan. The photo of Mao on the site really does put a smile on my face. Do you know if there is a way to listen to the program?

Here are some pictures that rosewood posted of Mao with volunteers from Young Japan Action and their work in Kesennuma. Briefly summarizing her comments. She said the first photo of Mao shows her probably looking out to sea from the mountain where the people of Kesennuma ran to escape the devastation of the tsunami. She said that now you can go there to see how well the city has recovered.

Some more photos of her visit to Kesennuma.

Thank you. Mao is such a good example for young people. Never give up. Be humble. Work hard. Be kind (about that one everyone seeks so highly of her)

I wonder if Mao comes back, her PCS would be in which range? Since Liza and Elena Radionova are receiving quite high PCS already.

Yuna's highest was 71.76 before she stopped competing, but then she got 73.61 in Worlds 2013. So I think Mao's PCS will be around her best before she stopped which was 72 at Worlds 2014. Maybe even higher. But Liza and Elena are being scored too high on PCS. What I hate the most is that Elena is receiving higher PCS than the PCS Akiko received before she retired. Liza should have 66 in PCS while Elena should have 62. So Mao will probably still beat them.

Never expected Mao to start being in a radio program. Good luck to her!
