Many congratulations to Maxim Kovtun on winning his 2nd JGP. He switched coaches before the start of the season to Elena Vodorezova (1983 World Bronze medalist), who also coaches Adelina Sotnikova. Had a few problems in this competition compared to his win in the Croatian JGP, but still managed to win.

Kovtun and Farris are likely to be the main contenders in the battle for Gold at the JGPF.

Shoma Uno is quite something. The fluidity in his upper body movement and his understanding of the music are quite exceptional for a 14 year old boy. Yes, the jumps are small and he needs more technical content, but I think that will come in time once he finally grows, he won't stay 4'8" and 80 lbs forever but for the meantime I'm thrilled he won the FS and medaled here, and earned such nice PCS! He really has something special about him, I can't quite put my finger on it, but the languid, relaxed style of his skating and excellent musicality makes me wonder if we could potentially be looking at a future Diasuke Takahashi...

Kovtun skated with a sore throat, he has been sick for a week now
hopefully by JGPF he will be well to compete

I think he can win the JGPF, and has more potential long term than Artur Gachinski.
