That's horribly disappointing - I was so looking forward to his being there!

Wait, was he originally supposed to perform at CoR? I guess I should be glad I had no expectations to begin with... and thus no disappointment. :p

Like I said before, I dunno if Plushy has the patience to be a commentator. He'd have to make it through numerous splatty people. I find the GP so far has been filled with a lot of :bang: (and two saviors, Mura and Machida... will CoR have one after all the anti-OGM powers of the universe stopped Hanyu from having a good CoC?)

Looks like Yana commented on the picture!

Yes, he said maybe... But he will perform at Rus Nat. That is so funny, and shows who is Evgeni Plushenko and how big star he is. The new general director of Russia's Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) Alexander Kogan to announce that Plush will skate at the gala. The Russian TV news as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcIrcTMwmGU

If Plushy were to be a commentator we'd all have to duck for cover for the hailstorm of

NEWS! Plushenko Finds Fault with Skater X

and Y... and Z... and A, B, C... and the rest of the alphabet; in fact any time he doesn't say that someone is "great" and that the sun shines from ... er... never mind. ;)

So, we found out:
- Plushy always calls Mishin "Professor."
- He matched a pairs skater on a double axel with no practice back when he was a teenager. No wonder he and Yuzuru did so well together on the side-by-side 3Ts.
- He hates to lose, even at archery (anyone surprised? :p)

I vaguely remember a video(?) where Plushy was commenting on the 2011 Euros (I think?) - he praised Florent Amodio quite a bit, and said he was disappointed in Brian because his level had gone down...anyone know what I'm talking about? Plushyfan, do you have a link? :)

Ouch. Wasn't that a pretty dire competition, as a whole?

So he wasn't doing commentary. Just interviewed about it afterward. Couldn't understand him except "Joubert" and "Amodio," but there's a strange clip of Avdish teaching him choreography included. I think Avdish is more dramatic than Plushy! No idea what program it's from... either they discarded it, or my brain isn't working.

Wow, I can always count on you! But it was actually this video (also on Irina's channel) which has a link to the translation on the official forum.

- Journalist: Zhenya, did you not find [what was going on on the ice] it funny?

- Zhenya: No, actually, I didn't find it funny. The guys skated well... for example, Arthur Gachinsky skated very well in his SP, he performed all the elements, Menshov skated his FP, in my opinion, excellently. He did two quad toe-loops, he skated a practically completely clean program. It's just that, when it comes to skating class, the guys aren't ready to compete with our opponents.

- Journalist: I actually didn't even mean Russian sportsmen, because our boys are growing, growth will come. But the general level of the medalists, I think that you should be at least a little offended…

- Zhenya: For figure skating in general, of course… Brian Joubert disappointed me, in that he hasn't grown... I spoke today with A.N. Mishin, by the way, regarding this, that I was expecting him to jump two quads, to do some cascades, make an interesting program, but instead, his level has lowered.
Let's take Amodio: Amodio, who just won Euros, he has huge potential and talent, if he adds a quad to his repertoire, then he'll be a very strong opponent. Regarding his steps, he has stunning spins, he's a master.

Yes, he holds skaters to a high standard, but I find him quite objective in general, and I hope we will get some interviews, at least, about his thoughts on this week's competition.

I did enjoy the other video, too, especially Avdysh. Yeah...how come we never got to see that program?

Avdish was a ballet dancer and he is a ballet choreographer. Some years ago he choreographed a program for the Ballet of Perm. I can't find the video on Youtube, but if I remember well, that was the The Master and Margarita.

But i can recognize Avdish's moves in this Plushy video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELud8GUfpdQ

Will Plushy be at Rostelecom at all? As a spectator, I mean? I know he was a few years back, and then of course he was asked about the men's event and what he thought about it (I remember he liked Jeremy's SP for instance - but when he was asked about the whole event not being up to par, he said that it was early in the season as of yet. I really don't think he estimates the GP very highly to be honest - also why he thought it wasn't necessary for Yuzuru to risk his health for a mere GP event, basically.)

Poor Plushy-If he will be there, I'm sure it will happen again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJhZSGuCqik The girl read her poem to Plushy, after he gave many-many autographs..

this is the interview for the American TV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaLUhYQ-hLc and many many autographs...I really believe the wellknown popular persons can be very tired of the people's love...

^^^ My goodness...those "fans" were really pests, weren't they? I don't think it's wrong to ask for an autograph or say hello for a moment, but the way they kept hanging around...quite bad manners, imo. I think if I would ever run into Plushy, I'd be far too shy and tongue-tied to even go up to him, though I'm sure he would just be as classy and polite as he is with everyone.

If I ran into him, and I was a alone... yeah, I'd probably just be too shy to say anything. Maybe if I had another fan with me...?

On the subject of choreography, I found this, RN 2014 Practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxyv1Z-gZso No jumps (and they admittedly didn't work out for him this competition :slink:), he just worked on the footwork, choreography, and a spin. It's worth watching just the movements.
