Just saw that Julia got an edge call on her 3Flip! I remember she had problems with her 3Lz. I wonder if she'll get it in the LP also

I think it was her Flip, she doubled her flip in FS at Finlandia
Julia hasn't gotten edge calls on her Lutz even on her 3lz-3t combo

she has been spoiled by the russian judges. yeah, it is indeed understandable
At JGP Events and Final and Junior Worlds? See her scores there.

She landed 3T+3T past season in SP, now 3Lz+3T. So score should grow.

She progresses at season.
Her scores past season:
JGP Event 172.51
JGP Event 183.05
JGP Final 179.73
Junior Worlds 187.05

Her places did not progress - all 1st.:)

She got an edge call on her 3Lz last season, In JGP Poland and the JGPF, though not consistently. I don't remember her to receive an edge call on the 3Flip, this is a first. That's why I was surprised.

Im talking about this season, her edge call is on her flip now not on her lutz

Thanks for the links. I've heard of Julia L, but am not that familiar with her. I may have seen her once or twice in juniors. Julia had a clean skate here, but to me she seemed more like a contortionist going through the motions. I didn't like what she was wearing and I don't think she expressed the music well.

A nice sp from Mao. Perhaps she will be able to express this style better as the season progresses. I really enjoy Mao's new fp this season. Can't wait to see Mirai's programs. I thought Mirai presented very well at Finlandia Trophy and skated better than Kira Korpi did at Finlandia in the fp, but Kira was on home turf there.

I'd be worried if those simple mathematics would work so easily.
Julia is in her first 'real' senior competition - the way of scoring just isn't the same, and rightfully so. I don't remember her scores completly, I mean TES and PCS, but I'm not suprised she isn't getting the same scores she did before... if you compare her to juniors she just looks a little different than compared to seniors. Here, Mao, Kiira and Mirai are beating her in SS, have better choreography, more transitions, better presentation, more maturity, better interpretation, better lines, higher jumps with more ice coverage... maybe she's just scored by a different standerd (and looking at her age that's fine). 63 is great, especially for a senior debut! I think she should/could be really proud with herself and that score, instead of being not pleased. I don't see any point in those protocols where I'd say she should have gotten more points...
That said, I like her more than last year. Given better choreo, I think I might start to enjoy her.

And I'm happy with Maos new SP. It's exactly what Mirunna said... some people are always going to complain. I like how her SP and FS are not the same style of skating, and I think that SP is kinda cute. Don't think I agree about the junorish part, it's upbeat, but the skating quality is there... I'd even say Mao has a little more speed and power compared to her performances last year. She looked somehow securer to me again out there, and I'm really happy about that. That step sequence was

Zijun is definitly a lovely newcomer too, I really enjoy watching her skate :)

Agreed. She skates like a junior. Choreographic transitions between moves were not smooth.

Julia Lipnitskaya:
"Real Assad is the same, as in the TV"
FIGURE SKATING

The debutant of Senior "Grand Prix" Julia Lipnitskaya began on Friday the performances in a champion series from winning the short program, ahead the twice world champion and the main favourite of an Event Mao Asada, the special correspondent of "SE" Elena Vaytsehovskaya transfers from Shanghai.

- Julia, a year ago you as surely acted in the JGP Ffinal in Quebec and surely won it. Now for the first time in life you are in an Senior Event of GP. Is the difference in feelings?

- No. Unless the combo (3Lz+3T - E.V comment.) I jump now better.

- Really didn't worry at all?

- And what for?

- After all the first serious start, a lot of the audience on tribunes, Mao Asada in one locker room...

- Asada, by the way, just the same, as in the TV. Nothing special.

- That is for you at all has no value with whom to compete? You come for the first time on so serious competition and you do not look around at all?

- Why? On ice I look around very attentively. To not to face with somebody.

- And why after skating you were so obviously dissatisfied with scores?

- It seemed to me that scores for pure skating could be higher. I, at the beginning of October in Finland on the Finlandia Trophy, had "-2" for the combo. Thus total score was 64.05. And now 63.06.

- And how it was possible to execute elements, you are happy?

- Yes, it is absolute. Everything turned out how I wanted.

- I know that at the beginning of a season you had quite serious problems with a left foot. Now injured foot didn't disturb?

- Let's tell so, the doctor and the masseur made for this purpose all possible.

- It was necessary to potter much?

- It was necessary...

Julia sounds like very attentive and focused student
I read an interview that Julia is a Workaholic and had to be stopped from practicing too many times

Julia put out a great program. Her flexibility kinda terrifies me though. I also think it is over used. She needs to work on the little things, cleaner positions, holding jump landings ect. Great senior skate for her though!

I was unable to see Mao's program as it was not available on mobile.

Mirai skated great despite two footing her 3T. I think the program suits her fun personality. Great footwork and her spins are amazing. I'm pulling for her in the long.

Kira reminds me of Carolina Kostner in a way. She is enjoyable to watch!

I know things are translated differently from language to language. But in that particular translation, she sounds a little...arrogant.

is that Julia didn't paid attention on the other skaters as she was focusing on how to perform her programs

though I think her coach Eteri should have told her the scoring in Finlandia was Inflated

In original text - no.

I'm not a professional translator (and do not know English really well), so may be miskakes in tone and spirit.

I thought the same thing. This "What should I be nervous for?" or "Asada by the way - nothing special"... and her reaction to her score. She really sounds spoiled by the judges here.
In every other interview she sounded very sweet, a lot of respect for other skaters and very driven. Maybe this is really just a language-thing :)

She sounds a bit arrogant to me as well. It would be nice if she could bring that arrogance to her skating. She has personality in spades but somehow she skates like a robot. It's like she is not enjoying it at all. Plus, she could pay attention to how other skate. Maybe she would realize that jumps aren't everything. Despite her amazing flexibility and jump consistency her skating skills are not that good. She could work on her edges and flow across the ice as well. Of course she has plenty of time to time to do it. And her 2axel technique is atrocious! If she grows a bit, I bet she will struggle with this particularly jump

If it would be still computer translation, it would be much worse and some parts would be ununderstandable.
I corrected manually computer translation, but problem is in my not so good English.
If somebody may translate better and will do it - welcome!

Skater must skate as good as possible regardless to other competitors. So no attention to others, all attention to her(him)self.
Skaters don't look to skating of others before them, many of them close ears to not hear scores.
It is normal for individual sports.
though I think her coach Eteri should have told her the scoring in Finlandia was Inflated
Her score at World Juinors (with less expensive 3T+3T) was slightly (0.03 point) higher.
In fact, problem was in edge call of 3F. If not so, score would be higher.
Julia is clever and diligent girl, I believe she will correct her 3F.
