Yeah, Mao had the hardest programs, so it's understandable that she should have gotten the gold if she was clean in both programs, unless Adelina put in her program a triple axel. That's why I said Yulia could get at least a silver, if all went clean.
But we all know the probability of Mao went clean in both her programs is...very very low.

Not only they were hardest but also 2 beautiful programs. :yes:

No no, I meant if everything else stayed the same, only change that Yulia skated cleanly.
Interesting thoughts.

I thing her SP score would have put her in 4. but she would have outscored Adelina (artistically) and Caro (technically) in the FS (I don't know about Yuna cause her program was technically easier but she gets way higher components) and would have ended in 2. over all :)

But that's all just "what if", I'm just curious about it

I don't know. I don't think both russians, Yulia and Adelina would've finished on the podium. There is Yuna as well.

We were discussing on FSU about Yulia's love for animals, and one user came up with this wonderful idea about a program around the theme of her love for the horses.

The Horse Whisperer soundtrack came to mind and it's really nice.

I think, with the clean skate Yulia would have 74+ in SP (like in Saitama) and 145+ in FS which is higher than 141 in the team event but individual had a mark-up plus she did not have a clean lz then. Then she would have had 219+ and would win over Yuna by half a point. Still a lot of outcry but not at the same level as what we had in fact. Adelina would have had 72+ + 144+ = 216+ and there would be a very close decision between her and Carolina who was not 100% clean in FS. Of course, if Mao were clean both times with her 3A she would have won although the scores would have been very close. I guess, for her something like 76 + 144 = 220

How come Adelina scores lower if Yulia skates clean in your version? Or is this your "How I would have wanted it to be " ? :)

Yes, it would have been eyebrow-raising, but if we think all the other performances stayed the same- I think not only Adelina and Yuna would have outscored Caro in the end by the way this system works, but also Yulia would have done so because her technical program value in the FS is much higher. ... so it would have been her, Adelina and Yuna on the podium in my book.

But this is all so hypothetical...we'll have to wait for 2018 :laugh:

Yep, I can see that happening. Adelina and Yulia would've won on the tech.program value in the FS for sure.
Still, I'm not sure about two russians on the podium though.
Even if it's just politicking, Russia would've been more than happy with the gold medal, and the judges were prepared to give Yulia the gold medal, IMO. Unless of course Mao skated clean.
So, in the end, I think it would've been Yulia, Yuna and Caro on the podium.

There is a huge file from BBC, but with all competitions from Sochi and I can't figure out which are the ones for FS. :confused:

NBC, couldn't find for the ladies. Just pairs, men, dance.

Watching Ghibli is a little bit like watching Yulia's skating for me.
Refreshing, bringing hope, warm and innocent memories from the past. You can't watch those movies without smiling to yourself (or even crying) and thinking: "wow, that's my childhood, I want to go back for a while!". :)

Unfortunately no more new films from the studio... :scowl:
