Wow, that was faster than I thought! Is he re-elected? Yes his is, at 51, his second term! It is over! He won over the millionaires/billionaires that wanted Romney and despite a teriible first debate. He has 274 Electoral votes....it is called at 11:15 eastern time...I do not envy this man and I ask all American to pray for his safety....he has had 40,000 death threats. I think he'd be happy to let Mitt take it. Please God wake this man up and let him be who we thought he was 4 years ago!. Amen.

Bad news for my state if you read is assisted suicide looks like it went thru-culture of death-and no doctor present. Other staes have many stories of cancer treatment denied but suicide pills offered. Yes, this is America's direction. With this two party lock, neither of these men were what this country needs. We need men like Churchill or FDR. Or women like Hillary. Lord please help the USA. What will this poor man expect? Lord protect the poor, sick, elderly from the demagogues.

Not to cry sour grapes, I knew Obama'd won long before the election even started - but it's very disheartening to be a part of the process and then basically get told our votes don't count. He was declared (as most presidents have been) the winner before our polls even closed? Why even bother?

I bother because it's my duty to vote, as a citizen. I bother for the ballot initiatives, and for the house & Senate races, and the State & town races.

And I bother because man would I have been unhappy if something like this went on, and I hadn't voted:

Granted, when somebody has to toss a coin to break a tie, everyone's vote was irrelevant.

I have no problem voting for things I know will actually matter with my vote, but Alaska (and Hawaii) will never decide an election, that's been made very clear throughout the years, not just this one.

I have a vague recollection that Alaska (three electoral votes at the time) did help decide the Kennedy election in 1960. And that was Alaska's first Presidential election as a state. So you can take a bow, Toni.

hmmm, I'd be surprised if that were really true... however back then the president was not decided before our polls closed... now it is.

Well, the news is good, folks. Almost a week after the election, Florida's votes have been counted. What is with that cockamamie state? (Meaning no offense to the good people of Florida.)

Not that there's any relevance to the results, but the state went to Obama.

What bothers me about FL is that they had 3 to 4 hour lines to vote in the early voting and still did not extend early voting.

Lines were even longer, if possible, on Election Day. Apparently, this was particularly a problem, no surprise, in urban areas.

There was a review of why it took so long to vote...and then recommended less early voting. Despite that, more Florideans voted this time than last election

One problem was the Florida ballot was 10 pages long

Some of it was having a 10 page ballot.

Ah. Maybe a lot of propositions this year. But Florida is certainly known for its dysfunction in terms of election day procedures in the best of times. Thanks for the links, Doris.
