He was under 'someone new' category

VT are already a well known couple. They don't need a big name. Politicking is not gonna help them anyway. They need a good coach for the technique and Platov is great for that. He would be fully committed to them also and give them all the freedom they want in terms of choreography.

Edit: I see katha's comment. I don' like Shpilband but even he's better than Zoueva ad D&L, IMO.

I am soooo excited for them.
But why choose D/L? I mean I'm not against it but it's pretty jam packed there, no? Still though

They are great coaches with respect to technique. Consider what V/M lost when Igor left and how much H/D improved in one year. It will be a great comeback.

have to say that I'm not very surprised by their comeback itself, but what makes my head spinning is amount of hate, unreasoned critic and accusation thrown at Tessa and Scott about this comeback decision.

I feel genuinely sorry for them - yes, they are not perfect, they often were/are considered as whiny, accusative people towards certain issues and for many they are considered as no longer relevant. But I really appreciate their courage to do this, to face all this negativity (or even more of it) again, to make an effort to get back on ice competitive. This won't be easy for sure to train under Marie-France and Patrice alongside duos like Papadakis/Cizeron and Hubbell/Donohue, but then I hope for seeing them in entirely new light, maybe new style.

I don't want to make any judgements before they'll actually step on ice, do their competitions and present us and judges their stuff - I think it's very unfair to call out now things that do not exist yet or things that are imagination's products.

As this is my favourite ever ice dance duo the excitement is very high to see them again competing. My only wish is they would avoid disappointment and negative feelings/unnecessary critics and only took wise criticism and advice to go forward.

Tessa and Scott recently have come up in assorted nice comments from other skaters:

- In the pre-Worlds media teleconference with Madi Hubbell and Zach Donohue, Lynn Rutherford asked them to comment about training with Tessa and Scott. (This part starts at approx. 8:35.)
Madi and Zach both had very nice things to say about looking forward to having them as training mates.
Zach, who previously trained with Tessa and Scott under Shpilband, spoke at some length about Scott being his favorite skater ever :luv17:.
Also praised Tessa and Scott as both great skaters and great people.

- In the Mar 16 pre-Worlds Google Hangouts, Alex Shibutani was responding to a question about Worlds being on home soil in Boston, and he reminisced about the excitement of watching on TV to support Meryl and Charlie at 2009 Worlds in LA. In the same breath, Alex added that Maia and he were supporting Tessa and Scott as well :).
https://youtu.be/e_ghfWhc-hI?t=3m11s (Alex's comment begins at approx. 3:11)

- From an IN round-up of favorite memories of past Junior Worlds :

Drew Meekins (pairs, 2006, with partner Julia Vlassov):

There was something so special about that group (the 2006 competitors, who included Yu-Na Kim, Meryl Davis and Charlie White, and Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir). It was a great group of people who have formed bonds and friendships. Patrick Chan was a baby. We watched him and we were like, "That guy's going to be good someday." ...

I have such great memories of walking through the street at night: lifting each other, taking silly photos, dancing around the street; I remember Scott lifting Charlie. It's a kind of coming-of-age rite of passage, and we all shared that. ....

Two years has passed since Sochi. I don't know whether they will compete in a Challenger event before Skate Canada, but I can be sure of myself is that I would probably get emotional and end up shedding tears out of joy to see them in competition again. Yeah, they have been busy doing for ice shows, but I'm only drawn to competition, so it would be a great pleasure to see new programs, probably great ones from them. I really hope that they receive credit where credit's due. Three straight OMGs from North America may not be what the judges want though. However, they didn't have a luck for gold in GPF, so I would be thrilled if they achieve that after their comeback. :)

Their presence on ice is special. I can’t wait to see them at competitions. Their wills to return to competition is respectable and admirable. They already have the big titles, still they continue. They must have a big motivation and love this sport. I love them more.
I don’t worry about their comeback. They have solid technique and further expect me to see their own world!

Their performances are wonderful! They seem to have already shaped, and the movements are sharp.
Further, Tessa’s outfits are sooooooooooooo lovely! I’m sure her sense of costume is outstanding of all ladies.

“Carmen” Awsome!

BTW, does anyone know of their coach, choreographer, etc.? They haven’t changed them?
