Post Yuzuru Hanyu: Links to Media Only

    Hi,

According to the administrator, I create an additional topic concerning Yuzuru Hanyu. The previous topic of Hanyu is the most active topic with more 300 pages, and it won't be stop regarding the amazing growing success of him. Thus, a lot of people asked to create a new topic where we can regroup all media (Pics, Video, Translations) of our great skater.

So I invite all contributors of Hanyu's topic to put any videos, pics, translations if they have it, in order to avoid the pollution of the Hanyu's main topic.

Sorry for new users who try to find all media that have been posted before in the flow of the 300 pages, but we will try to put the majority of them into this topic.

    The interview with Nobu
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUtfG4gbmo8

Yuzu: Even though I took gold medal, the performance which I was aiming for, well, it was regrettable
    I was nervous
It wasn't my dreamed stage (From now on I want to skate “my dream stage”, skate better?)
So, releasing latest information, huh? Working on the quad loop
Oda: And Kanako was like “ohmygodohmygodohmygod!” So tell, how do you do it!
Yuzu: It's like, and I go, Shu-!
    Oda: I can't understand! “Shu!?”
Yuzu: I'm getting a good feeling into it, I think I understand it now
    then comparing it with salchow
Oda: Everyone surely wants to see it, but do it in your own pace
Yuzu: Yeah, it's like, more people can (try) to do it but when you're at a competition for now it's only up to salchow
Last season was great, medal and all, but Pyeongchang will be totally different, it doesn't really have anything to do with what happened until now, we can't know how good people will get, it's a different day, different rink, different place, every day everyone is getting better; Yes, that's one my dream, for everyone to be getting better

And from the interview after the skate:

Q: So how was the skate?
Yuzu: I had great feelings from it, I'm in happy mood, I think it couldn't have been better
Q: You won gold medals, did something change?
Yuzu: Inside me, nothing changed. I still feel the “do my absolute best!!” kind of thing inside

    Thanks Darjaille for the translation!

    Complete Interview With Oda
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUtfG4gbmo8

    Credit translation: http://sherringford-bm.tumblr.com/

    Oda: Please sit down

Hanyuu: What sort of start is this…

H: Basically they told us to do a freetalk

O: but i am very bad at free talk so i was hoping you could help me a bit

H: So i can just talk on and on

    O: yeah yeah

    O: So how is it?

    H: What is?

    Theme: This season

O: Well I’m guessing you’ve been in shows and you’ve been quite busy but how are you? Especially how is it after the olympics? Now that it’s all over

H: Well my environment has changed quite a lot, but i don’t think i have changed myself. I mean it just feels like one extra competition near the end of the season. And so i feel like ‘this season has finished’

O: But i mean… you were working for your goal… OH yeah congratulations on your gold medal

    H: Oh thank you haha

O: A bit late i know. I’m sorry for being extremely late

H: but i mean with the gold medal, I was aiming for it, but now that i have it, I was frustrated with my performance so

O: But, but yeah… it was amazing I was watching

H: But I was so nervous

O: Of course you would I was too

H: There is something there right

O: I mean as athletes we aim for that place, it’s our place of dreams. but actually its a place of competition not dream, once you do face the reality. But I hadn’t been able to process that properly, I had to compete there but I was pleased with myself being at the ‘dream.’ But oh forget about my stories…

H: But really i truly understand how you feel, when I went there I did not have much time till the team event, but before going to sochi, i told myself ‘its not the dream place its a competition. It’s a match and i have to compete there’ and that was something I had really tried to understand.

Narrator: Competing in the ‘dream place’ with a strong will. Hanyuu’s excel was the quad jump, and he is said to have the highest success rates.

    Theme: Jump

H: Quad toe (i think), I was really confident with myself

O: Yeah you were jumping and jumping. Because in ice shows we trained together… in about 10 minutes you start jumping quad. After the warm up we finally do the axel but you jump the axel in the warm up so its like wait wait wait wait!! Teach me the tips, the tips, how do you jump? Like how… the axel, what sort of feeling do you have?

H: The axel is like… kinda like crashing into the wall

O: kinda like crashing into the wall?

H: You have a straight wall and you go up right close to it, kinda feeling

O: So like this and get close like that

    H: yeah

O: Ohhhh~~ that image. I see I will teach the children like that, thank you very much

    H: Do we need this??

O: Well i mean you can jump the quad loop

H: Haha thats the most recent info

O: Yes the most recent info , it is

Narrator: Hanyuu is trying to jump the quad loop, with a higher difficulty than the quad toe. It is a hard jump no one has done in an official match.

O: Kanako was really surprised as well, when you were doing the quad loop, she was like ‘omg omg omg’ she was always saying omg. how does it feel, the quad loop

H: I’ve always been saying this but you go shoo!

    O: I don’t get the shoo!

H: Well i realised after the loop, but since i started the loop my salchow success rate went up as well. And thats because the most important feeling bit in the loop, is actually the most important bit in the salchow, i mean i think it is in the toe loop too, but because I’ve been focusing and doing it well my salchow and loop got better.

O: Oh i see. so the salchow also affected it

    H: Yes

O: Huuhh thats amazing. But seriously, seriously don’t rush it. I mean everyone jumped in the show, so everyone wants to see the quad loop, but go at your own pace, no injuries..

H: I mean whether I’ll put it in competition or not is very difficult. There’s skaters that can jump the loop but most only do till the salchow in competition, so i need consult my stamina and really think about it.

Narrator: and finally, hanyuu talked to us about his future as the 19 year old olympic gold medalist.

    Theme: what comes after that

O: well yeah the quad loop is coming as well, and so in the next season, you’ve become the olympic gold. So Yuzu, what do you feel comes after that?

H: Well… the olympic gold as well, but this season is this season. in the new season i may have the same name, but different places, different rink, even the athletes are different, and its completely different performances. Sochi is sochi, and pyongchan in pyongchan, and they have nothing to do with each other. For example winning in Torino didn’t mean winning in Vancouver, and in between that the time had changed. And so i think it will be a different era. But within the change, I think the japanese men will go up, and if the international athletes go up, I am really excited to see what it will become. And so i will have to try and beat that, and so that means everyone will get better. Which will also raise the level of the younger ones. So that is one of my dreams, kind of thing.

O: So everyone will become better, and …

H: And the students Nobu-kun teaches too

O: Yeah~, I need to hurry up and coach good kids. I really shouldn’t be on tv all this time

    H: hahah thats true

    O: We’ve gotten an OK

H: Oh have we gotten an OK?

O: Thank you very much. Im so nervous my hands are sweating so much, i really can’t do free talk, I’m good at jokes, but not free talk

    H: then a joke

    O: Joke? um…

(I CANT TRANSLATE A JOKE SORRY SOBS)

    Post-Competition Press Conference at Sochi

    Chinese translations: @ICHIKO1029
    English translation: @311mi

Yuzuru Hanyu: My patience was unstable, and up till now, I still have no idea what happened to my self confidence. Actually, I am not too sure of my feelings towards winning the Olympic gold medal either. I think that I have worked hard, but I still can’t sleep at night. That feeling of powerlessness is too strong, and feels as if because of my nervousness, I am unable to accomplish anything. Half of me is happy about my victory, and the other is regretful about my mistakes.

Other Questions: I didn’t think that I would be this nervous for the Olympics. Although I am very happy but my Olympic win, I an disappointed in my own performance. Even after hearing Patrick Chan’s score, I didn’t feel happy one bit, and had actually only felt surprised. Although I am still immersed in the regret of not being able to perform my best, and that I am still trying to find out how to put my very best in a performance, it has been a great experience

Here a complete translation of this article : it is an interview of Brian Orser on air since these current days.
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BldaTiqCcAENjdr.jpg

Thank you for Yude (from YH Forumatic) for his translation and great job to him !

In Sochi Olympics, the skaters who had the origin in Asia swept the podium; Hanyu for Gold, Patrick Chan for Silver and Denis Ten for Bronze.
Yuna Kim once you had taught also got the second medal of the Olympics in Sochi after getting the gold medal in Vancouver.
What is the reason for the success of the skaters from the Asian roots?

They are easy to rotate with their low center of gravity and small pelves. Self-discipline is rooted in their culture. It is also easy to manage the weight.

Is Hanyu the same kind, too?

If we make a plan, Yuzuru does exactly as we planed. If we plan to skate from twelve o'clock, he makes his warm-up done and is ready by then.
He doesn't care about the noise, too. He is not sociable very much and did not play around, he thought about physical condition management the first.

You were a member of the Team Japan. How did you see Mao Asada who couldn't get a medal but attracted attention?

She has high ability and is beautiful. She had hardships in both of her real life and the competition side, it was like a roller coaster with ups and downs.
But she overcame them all. She is the existence that raised this sport a level higher in the standard.
I was thinking that she could get the gold medal, I really thought so.

Asada kept challenging 3A, the jump you also had in your competitive career.

I was one of the first skaters who executed 3A in the late 70's. Once you executes 3A, you are required to do it involving the fans, the media and the whole skating communities.

Do you think it was easier for Asada if she gave up 3A?

She could not want to choose the easy way because she was the champion. You all ask her for sure, "Why did you not do it?", don't you? What's called "responsibility" occurs in working on the advanced skill.

Don't you think the base value of 3A should be higher?

Having done that, there will be the opinion that 3-3 combination is more difficult. Both elements are difficult. I think the current base value is fair.

As for this sport, we always have the controversy in the scoring. Comparing the performances of Sotnikova and Kim, there is an argument in Korea about Kim's score which was too low.

I have watched it only on TV, so I can't judge it correctly.
When I say the impressions on that premise, the scores for SP of Yuna Kim and Carolina Kostner could have been higher.
And as my opinion, I felt that Kostner should have won overall. However, the performance of Sotnikova was special with her youth and energy.

How are you going to lead Hanyu from now on?

We will work on brushing up the skating skills and strengthening the transitions. Directionality of the choreography is also important.

Why do you point out the choreography?

I want to investigate what is the most suitable for him who is young and has various possibilities.
Yuna Kim did search for it, too. He is going to try many kinds of choreographies to find out the good one such as James Bond SP for Kim.

Do you have something to say about the current scoring system?

I train my students according to the rules we are given.
However, if there is one thing which does not change regardless of how the rules change, it is skating skill.
If there are new requirements in changing the rules, they still can grow into the skaters who are scored high if they train even the skating skill.
