So, I was reading the GPF preview:

    http://www.goldenskate.com/2012/12/2...final-preview/

when this caught my eye - about Kiira Korpi:

"It is unknown whether or not the European silver medalist will compete due to a back injury. "

That's the first I've heard about it - anybody else know anything?

Oh, dear. Sorry to hear about Julia and Denis. Glad Julia isn't ignoring the concussion; can you imagine how she would feel during jumps and spins? Wow, figure skating isn't for sissies.

As far as I know, Silete collided with Ponsart and got injured. Meanwhile she had surgery.

It struck me that it might be an idea to have the links to these threads here:

Johnny Weir out for rest of 2012-13 season

    http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sho...12-2013-season

    And:

    Coughlin undergoes surgery

For archival - or completist - reasons... or, well, something.

I'm a bit late on this, but some further details... Silété collided with another skater in August while training in Courchevel - I have heard that it was indeed Ponsart. She fell at a bad angle and suffered a torn ACL as well as damage to a lateral ligament and the meniscus. She had surgery in late August and is out for the season. There are more details in this IN article.

This is a serious injury - for comparison, Dai suffered a torn ACL in late 2008 (not sure if there was damage to other ligaments) and was off the ice for several months and not in great form when he first came back the following season. I hope Silété can make a full recovery. She's very young still, and I thought she looked quite promising last season.

Thank you, Buttercup! I'm really sorry to hear that - it sounds truly horrible. I do hope she recovers fully from this - one does not even like to think of an injury being possibly career-ending.

Also, I'm taking the liberty to re-post this link you shared on another thread; about Kiira Korpi:

Just arrived in Palm Beach. I'll be making a special appearance tonight at Palm Beach Ice Works. Come visit if you're in the area!
    9:53 AM - 8 Dec 12 ·

PBIW is having a holiday show tonight from 6-9 pm. http://www.pbiw.org/IceCalDetails.aspx?id=7
But ... Lysacek's tweet does not go so far as to say that he is skating tonight, and the PBIW site sheds no light.

    ETA:

He meant to say "fall" instead of "felt," I'm pretty sure.

Yesterday he had tweeted a photo of getting treatment at the sanatorium.

Thank you golden411 - I'm sure I'd never have seen these tweets if you hadn't posted them - I hope you keep up the good work - you could be our "twitter-reporter".

From that to something everyone has probably seen - the link to the "Wagner Withdraws from GPF Gala due to Injury"-thread:

Thanks again golden411 - I did watch the video; some nasty falls included in there that made me look away, I confess! - but also mention of what is being done to try to prevent injury.

And in the Ashley Wagner thread I linked to in my previous post, it was also mentioned that Yuzuru Hanyu also withdrew from the gala, and when I asked if anyone knew why this was, Kalina answered:

"He fell sick last night. Japanese officials said that they think he has some sort of stomach bug."

    (Posted yesterday.)
