Your posts were copied here, because the topic is one of interest to everyone, not just Patrick fans, and we wanted to share the news. The photos are cute too  . Your posts are still in the Patrick thread as well.

If you'd like your post deleted from this thread, please feel free to use Edit Post to delete it, by all means.

Just to be more clear. That "Russian forum" is not really Russian, because you can't say any nice things about Russian skaters there, you will be the troll.
Facts tell that it is not so.
Last for now message at "Alena Leonova" topic is:
I hope that Alena will perform all successfully at Euro, Worlds and Olympics.
http://forum.fsonline.ru/index.php?/topic/97-алёна-леонова/page__st__150#entry46457
And nobody refuses.

It is very nice place and more proper name is "Russian speaking forum”, people who speak Russian, and majority of them don’t live in Russia, but in Israel, Ukraine, USA, Canada, European union. Russian fans are really rare there (...)
IMHO
It is not so. Most of users are Russians and interest to Russian skaters, coaches and so is very high.
For example, at "Personalities" (1st page) there are 22 topics about Russians and 7 topics about non-Russians.
Almost all non-Russians mentioned there are most famous world-level skaters and couples - Aliona SAVCHENKO / Robin SZOLKOWY, Maia SHIBUTANI / Alex SHIBUTANI, Meryl DAVIS / Charlie WHITE, Tessa VIRTUE / Scott MOIR, Denis TEN, Javier FERNANDEZ, Daisuke TAKAHASHI.
So we see that most of interest of FSO forum is to Russian skaters and situation.

If this forum is American (I believe it is), FSO forum is Russian. At this forum are some non-American users (me, for example), and at FSO forum are some non-Russian users.

It is very nice place and more proper name is "Russian speaking forum”, people who speak Russian, and majority of them don’t live in Russia, but in Israel, Ukraine, USA, Canada, European union. Russian fans are really rare there, but you can see many journalists, specialists and so on. It is very similar to Golden skate, but in Russian. The difference from GFS is they still have mentality of the iron curtain. I have seen they ban people all the time for nothing, especially really Russian fans, who admaire rissian skater.
So don’t be mislead about Russian fans love for Chan, many of them don’t even live in Russia, or do that because they hate Plushenko, Gachinski, and every Russian skaters.
That's true. Their admin themselves always say that it's an International Russian speaking forum when some posters try to protest against the nastiness towards R-skaters there and usually get banned for that. But you have to realize that a good deal of posters on GS have a severe language barrier, I mean they can't read Russian and therefore they have no idea what it's going on there. Google translator cannot always help. So, it's quite natural that some people got confused. In any case, to say "Russian fans" while speaking about this particular award is ridiculous. It should be called as it is- FSO award since they reprsent only their voters and not all Russian figure skating community.

Facts tell that it is not so.
Well, actually they tell that it is. Leonova, whom you mentioned, said at the conference after Russian Nationals in Dec-2011 about FSO's attitude to R-skaters, her including (need a youtube link?). On the official Plushenko site this particular FSO voting was advised to be ignored by admin due to the hostility towards Plu and banning his supporters (need a link?). Facts. Let FSO itself provide us facts- in 2010 it had 7,479 registered users (forumarchive now), currently 2, 147. No need to say anything else- people don't want even to register there.

Anyway, I wouldn't make a big deal of all this award stuff. A lot of forums have polls on this and that. Of course not all of them give stuffed toys as awards, but giving them is perfectly fine. A good ad for a forum to have pics with elite skaters holding this forum award. Nothing wrong with that. Funny is when some people here assume that 2,000 users can speak for all Russia. But nothing wrong with being funny either.

Former versions of forum needed registration to use services like search. At the competitions forum topics were visible only for registered users (slow server needed to limit number of requests).

Now there are no limits of these kinds. Registration is needed only to write messages.

I believe, it is the main (or only) reason why number of registered users is lower now.

Funny is when some people here assume that 2,000 users can speak for all Russia.
Nobody speaks for Russia. Forum awards - not less and not more.

Eh, I see no harm mentioning it. I think it's cool to see what other forums are doing and I do enjoy seeing the photos! (As I said Han Yan -- so cute! (I need to be careful as I am an old lady compared to him. ;))

Maybe we should think about doing our own awards here....

... and to vote. But I got what you are saying- the number over 7,000 users in 2010 was due to technical reasons, otherwise it wouldn't be that high in the first place.
Nobody speaks for Russia.
Some people did. When they presented this award as "Russian fans award" following by their usual song "How much everyone loves Patrick Chan!", then Bestskate8 and later others have to reply to clarify the stuff. That is all. Before that no one here was talking about the nature of FSO and no one cares. Any reasonable person would understand that their award represent a couple of hundred voters and no one else.

Sadly, sometimes it feels like that's all the skating fans in the world that there are any more

If GS were to give out awards, what would we give?

Can doris clarify again that this thread was not created by a Patrick fan to promote that Patrick has won this award or that there are indeed Russian FS fans who do like Patrick? Obviously this has made some people's blood boil and are trying their might to discredit the forum.

This thread was copied by me from the Patrick Fan Fest thread, because I thought other fans would be interested at how another forum made awards.

And I thought the little bears were way creative and as cute as could be, and other fans might enjoy them.

I loved the Tessa & Scott bears and the Meryl & Charlie bears!

OTOH it is very interesting to read what the FSO forum is all about, too, so I'm glad it got posted.

This is not the fault of the Patrick fans. It's all mine.

Thank you Doris,
I have been at FSO since 2001, and it has always been Russian speaking forum, but not Russian forum.
Some new Russian fans when they first tine registry there, think it is place for Russian fans. But it is not. It is international forum in Russian language. Similar to GSF been in English.

Doris, I don't believe anybody is at fault here, I just feel that some people mistook that this thread was created by a Patrick fan due to the first few posts hence the hostility towards that forum and that's very unfortunate.

When I knew almost nothing about figure skating world, I thought Golden Skate Awards were coming from here. GS could give out awards for creative, innovative programs of the season, or Good Sportsmanship awards for skaters who demonstrated true meaning of athleticism and sportsmanship in the season! Oh, this would be great!

There is an international skating forum in Russian language? That's great! Russian language is not as popular as English and French. I guess the majority of the members there must have Russian background or some sort of connections with Russia even if they don't have Russian nationality now. Fifteen new countries have been formed including Russia before and after the fall of Soviet Union. Some people there were really hostile to Russia.

chuckle on the hostility in this thread. It's just a small appreciation from fans.:rolleye: Russian speaking fans (to be precise;)) are so passionate and dedicate to this sport!

Thanks, STARushka for bringing it to GS!

Thanks! Great choices from this forum!

I don't think that is GS in Russia. Golden Skate allows people to talk freely. While on FSO, some of my friends were banned because they tried to advocate Rus-skaters there. They even didn't troll, but just argued. I thought general Russians don't have Freedom Of Speech on FSO..

Thanks to Doris for creating this thread devoted to the FSO awards.
Otherwise, I would have never seen the photos of the bears and their wonderful costumes, which were very enjoyable. (Although I like Chan, I can't say that I look at his Fan Fest thread regularly.)
Also was interested to read about the FSO forum and its awards.

Request to any of members of FSO:
What is the link for the FSO thread specifically about the FSO awards and bears, please?
I can read Cyrillic, but the particular thread was not obvious to me from the FSO home page.
Благодарю вас/Thank you.
