Former polish ice-dancer Sylwia Nowak is one of the tech specialists. So glad to see her. She looks amazing.

A very strong Russian field in the junior ice dance this year. They could be a bit faster in the compulsory section. Solid and fast rotational spin. Twizzles was in sync and had good speed with a minor distance issue. Overall, they could work on being closer to each other and work on maintaining similar distance throughout the non-touching sequence. However, a good start to the competition.

Love the fiery red hair, by the way. And right into the compulsory section - good speed, could rise and fall with their knees with more precision. Strong spread eagle lift. On presentation, they could match their movements more with the phrasing of the music. Effective toe-tapping section. A bit out of sync with the twizzles but it should receive positive GOE. Overall, slightly stronger than the previous team.

TCS 50.45 (youch, they must have gotten some really low levels on some elements)

Solid leg lifts around the corner of the compulsory step. Their edges are quite strong and secure. A slight issue with him on the second set of twizzles. Fast rotational lift. I think they could have more yearning in their PCS to match the lyrics and mood of the song.

ISU couldn't have come up with smth. better than that boring blues for juniors. At least all skaters outfits look here waaaaay better than Seniors' polka crap.

For now, had to add.

As a former blues and swing dancer (nothing professional, but I did dance at events with a troupe) I have to add that I hate the ice dance version of the blues. Ice dance swing is close to real swing, but they sucked the soul from the blues.

Their season's best hasn't been great with the short dance. Very strong twizzles (+2). Pretty tight body contact in the transitions. Non-touching sequence a bit out of sync in the beginning but they got back together near the end. Some of the holds are simple and open which allows for a lot of speed.

TCS 54.79 (the judges are scoring quite low in this competition)

Non-touching step sequence wasn't that difficult at the beginning, but good edge quality in the back half. Out of sync in the exit of several twizzles, but they were fast and had a lot of ice coverage. I feel like they are too happy throughout the blues section and that the music is overpowering them there. However, I do like their swing interpretation.

I like the added difficulty with the third set of twizzles with the hop. A little awkward entry in the lift, but good speed and difficulty. Second compulsory step not as strong as the first one but should still receive positive GOE and the levels. A bit slow coming out of the non-touching step sequence. Some of the transitional connections were strong, though. It should score very well.

Top two russian teams got all but one key point validated in the blues patterns. Top two non-russian teams got one key point out of 6. That's a 5 point difference right there: that explains the low scores for the French and the Americans.

The main thing that struck me is that Kosigna /Moroshkin look like they are trying to channel Annisina/ Peizerat, at least with their hair! ;)
