^^ That would be too rich for HJK, I'm afraid...

But just heard from an accredited friend who went to the men's practice tonight (it's at the practice rink, so not available for us ordinary folk) that Javi was still a no show... Images of Daniel Samohin at the Europeans are floating in front of my eyes right now, but I'm hoping this will rathet turn out likethe Europeans at 2013 when he won for the first time after missing his skates.

Yeah, I was thinking Iker would be too much, but he's friends with Javi, no? ;) I'm sure he'll get the skates on time, fortunately Men SP is on Thursday.

This is the nightmare of every skater, lost or delayed boots. :( Hoping they arrive today and Javi is at practices tomorrow.

Oh, no :/ Hopefully he gets the boots soon. It's even worse for him than for Samohin because he's one of the oldest ones :( At least Daniel has several years left to make up for a bad season...

If anyone can handle it, javi can. He has been in lots of shows where you learn anything can happen and it does, he is experienced... if he just keeps calm, does not panic, then he might be ok... remember how he did last year after the sudden situation with his foot....he can do it...as long as they come soon!!!!!!!

Vamos, javi!

Woke up to read a message that the skates had returned - hope it's true. Heading towards the morning practice now!

Javier showed up in the morning practice today, wearing blue t-shirt, I am wondering whether this is his favorite practice wear, since we have seen him in it a lot. He is full of steam, jumps are solid. His music rotation is the 4th in the group. 4T, hand down, doubling 3A, 4 S beautiful, 3f-3 S, flirty ina bauer into 3 loop, super, skipped the rest jumps. Fairly good for his first practice, if his skates arrived in the later afternoon yesterday.

BTW, Javier looks thinner than I saw him last summer in Japan.

Both BO and Tracy are at the rink side and Javier talked with them frequently during the practice.

Thanks for the report evergreen! Kishes had managed to upload the run through in DM but was quickly taken down :( I'd say it was a good day considering the time he had to make up for. He still has a couple more days to get his skates under him

It was a huge relief to see him there at the practice, looking very happy and relaxed. He did a fairly good practice as Evergreen already wrote, nothing perfect but considering that this must have been his first time on ice since maybe Saturday, not bad. He was wearing the same dress pantsy trousers as at Ostrava and not the horrible grey sweatpants he has been using with that blue T-shirt a lot  Seeing Tracy at the boards is also nice, because she is rarely seen at competitions! She was in Marseille, but not by the boards.

Evergreen and I met up at the arena - it would have been rather special to watch Javi together, but I saw her message a bit too late for that. But we spent most of the rest of the men's practice chatting away and will be seeing each other of course also later. 'twas cool!

It's been a long day, but here some of the stuff I found around the net today...

Two vids from the soccer meeting yesterday: quiz with HJK's second coach (a Spaniard), another with a few words from him as well and all the penalties (altogether 10).

Some stories from the Spanish press on the competition (very general):

And a welcome to the arena with The Skates:

And I hope you have noticed that the practice sessions will be streamed at the ISU YouTube Channel starting from tomorrow! Javi's group will be on ice 11.20-12.00 Finnish Time and he will be the first to do a RT after the warmup! Don't miss that!

Plus the draws were posted today on the Helsinki 2017 twitter account, so we can probably watch tomorrow how he will (hopefully not) draw that starting place in his group... 15.30 Finnish Time. They were testing the screen at the Arena and it was an imaginary starting order for the SP with Javi starting the entire competition - hope that was not an omen!

That was Super Javi showing up in a black outfit today. Amazing skate. Best sp I've ever seen from him, and under pressure too. He's never had a lead at a world's before, but I"m sure he'll be fine. He's been through all sorts of pressure situations and has a good head for competition. I think if he skates decently well, not even perfectly, he'll get the win.

It's going to be so exciting to watch!!

I'm still amazed!
What a day for the boys!! Except for Yuzu I guess...
I'm so happy for Javi :cheer:
I think I have never seen him so serious and tense, on the ice and later, in the K&C. On the bright side, this time no one will say that he is easygoing… I have to admit that I enjoyed more last year’s performance but a clean program is a clean program!!
It’s gonna be a long time until Saturday…

Now I'm nervous. Last year I had all but given up because of Hanyu's lead but then he produced that stunning comeback. Let's hope he's as fearless as he was last year in the LP.
